Alappuzha (, आलप्पुळ) or Alleppey is a municipality and town on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It is the district headquarters of the district, and is located about north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. Oommen Chandy (31 October 1942 – 18 July 2023) was an Indian lawyer and statesman who served as the 10th chief minister of Kerala, serving from 2004 to 2006 and 2011 to 2016. Kerala Students Union
The Kerala Students Union (abbreviated KSU) is the largest students organization in Kerala, India. It functions as the student wing of the INC. Organisation have strong ideology of Indian National Congress party. KSU was founded in 1957 at Alappuzha, with M. A. John as its main organiser and Vayalar Ravi founding general secretary. The original group consisted of M. A. John, Vayalar Ravi, George Tharakan and A. A. Samad. It functioned as the student wing of the Pradesh Congress Committee. Alappuzha District
Alappuzha district (), is one of the 14 Districts of Kerala, districts in the States and union territories of India, Indian state of Kerala. Cherthala is a municipality in the Alappuzha district of Kerala, India and acts as a satellite town of Kochi. Etymology According to local legend, Vilwamangalam Swamiyar, the Kerala Hindu saint, while travelling through Cherthala, found an idol of the Devi with its head immersed in a muddy pond. The swami understood the divinity of the idol, took it out of the mud, cleaned it and consecrated it in a temple near the pond. Mercy Ravi
Mercy Ravi (18 March 1945 – 5 September 2009) was a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly and the wife of the Indian politician Vayalar Ravi. She was also a renowned social worker and author. Early life and education She was born in 1945 in Ernakulam district of Kerala to an elite Christian family. She was the daughter of Kuruvila Katticaren and Thandamma. She was educated at Maharaja's College, Ernakulam and was a post graduate. She married politician Vayalar Ravi, who was also her college senior, in 1969.
