Grigory Soroka
Grigoriy Vasilyevich Soroka (, real surname Vasilyev (Васильев); —) was a Russian painter, one of the most notable members of Venetsianov school. Life Soroka was born as a serf in Pokrovskoye village ( Tver Guberniya), owned by the Milyukov family. In 1842-1847 he studied art from Alexey Venetsianov then he was returned to his owner. In the 1850s-1860s he resided in his home village. He fell in love with his owner's daughter Lydia but was forcibly married to a serf woman. After the emancipation reform of 1861 in Russia, Soroka remained under the serfdom system. He made a formal complaint but it was rejected and he was flogged. Soroka's body was found in the baking room where he had hanged himself.B. Sergei Dmitrievich Vasilyev (; 4 November 1900, Moscow – 16 December 1959, Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter and actor. From 1928 to 1943 together with Georgi Vasilyev (often jointly, though incorrectly credited as the Vasilyev brothers) he co-directed several films, including the influential and critically acclaimed ''Chapaev (film), Chapaev'' (1934). Sergei Vasilyev was granted the honorary title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1948; and received (with Georgi Vasilyev) two USSR State Prize, Stalin Prizes in 1941 and 1942. His 1942 film ''The Defence of Tsaritsyn'' concerns the Battle of Tsaritsyn during the Russian Civil War, a battle in which Joseph Stalin played a prominent role. Oleg Vassiliev (; November 4, 1931; Moscow – January 25, 2013) was a Russian painter associated with the Soviet Nonconformist Art style. Vassiliev emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York City in 1990 and later lived and worked in St. Paul, Minnesota. Education Vassiliev graduated from V.I. Surikov State Art Institute, Moscow, in 1958. In the late 1950s he became influenced by the Russian avant-garde formalists, Vladimir Favorsky (1886–1964), Robert Falk (1886–1958), and Artur Fonvizin (1883–1973). Oleg Kimovich Vasiliev (; born 22 November 1959) is a Russian former pair skater who competed internationally for the Soviet Union. With his then-wife Elena Valova, he is the 1984 Olympic champion, 1988 Olympic silver medalist, and three-time World Champion (1983, 1985, 1988). Their coach throughout their career was Tamara Moskvina. After retiring from competition, Vasiliev became a coach, leading the pair of Tatiana Totmianina / Maxim Marinin to the 2006 Olympic title. Nadezhda Vasilyeva
Nadezhda Ivanova-Vasilyeva (? – 1971; Cyrillic: Надежда Владимировна Иванова-Васильева) was one of several women who claimed to be Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia. Vasilyeva first surfaced in Siberia in 1920, as she was trying to travel to China. She was arrested by the Bolshevik authorities and was imprisoned in succession at Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, Leningrad, and an island gulag in the White Sea.Massie, p. 146 In 1934 she was moved to a prison hospital in Kazan. She wrote letters in French and German to King George V of the United Kingdom asking him to help his "cousin" Anastasia. At one point she changed her story and said she was the daughter of a merchant from Riga. Later, she again claimed to be Anastasia. She died in an insane asylum in 1971. Mikhail Vasilyev (explorer)
Mikhail Nikolayevich Vasilyev (; 1770 – June 23, 1847) was a Russian explorer and vice admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy. He is reputed for having surveyed the then little-known coast of Alaska as navigator. Vasiliev was sent by the Russian Imperial Hydrographic Service in 1819 to explore the northern parts of the Pacific Ocean and particularly the area around the Bering Strait. Certain geographic features of the Alaskan coast, like the Lindenberg Peninsula and Sealion Island were named by him in the maps that were subsequently published. Margarita Vasileva ( Bulgarian: Маргарита Василева; born 30 May 2005) is a retired Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast. She is world champion with the Bulgarian team in All-around at the world championship 2022 in Sofia and world champion in final with 3 ribbons+2balls.
