Vasilios Manettas
Vasilios Manettas or Lappas (; 1 January 1917 – 18 June 2003) was a Greek footballer who played as a forward. Early life Manettas was born in Smyrna on the New Year of 1917. During the Asia Minor Disaster he lost his father, Theodoros Lappas and in September 1922 he came to Greece with his mother Heleni Manetta and his two older brothers. Club career Manettas started his football career in 1935 at AEK Athens where he stayed for a decade until 1945. He won at AEK 2 consecutive Panhellenic Championships, 2 Greek Cups and 1 Athens FCA League, including the first domestic double by a Greek club in 1939. In 1945 he joined Daphni Athens, where he completed his career in 1951. International career Manettas played in one match for Greece on 20 February 1938 against Palestine. for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Smyrna ( ; , or ) was an Ancient Greece, Ancient Greek city located at a strategic point on the Aegean Sea, Aegean coast of Anatolia, Turkey. The Palestine national football team (), governed by the Palestinian Football Association, represents Palestine in men's international football. 1931–32 Greek Football Cup
The 1931–32 Greek Football Cup was the first edition of the Greek Football Cup. All matches took place within 1931 and before the start of the national and local championships. The competition culminated with the Greek Cup final, held at Leoforos Alexandras Stadium, on 8 November 1931. The match was contested by AEK Athens and Aris, with AEK Athens winning by 5–3. Calendar Qualification round Knockout phase In the knockout phase, teams played a single match against each other. If the match ended in a draw, extra time was played and if the match remained a draw at the end of the extra time a replay match was set. That procedure was repeated until a winner emerged. 1939–40 Panhellenic Championship
The 1939–40 Panhellenic Championship was the 11th season of the highest football league of Greece and the last before the WW2 took place. It was carried out with a system similar to that of the previous season in which 14 teams participated again, 8 from the Central and 6 from North Greece, which were divided into groups. As of the previous season, since a total of 30 matchdays were required to complete the championship, the clubs from the same region that were qualified for the national championship did not face against each other again but the results from their local championships applied instead.
