Varrun Sukhraj
Varrun Sukhraj (16 June 1988) is an Indian writer and director. He is known for his acclaimed documentary "Too Much Democracy" (2022), based on Indian farmers' protest in 2020. Which screened at The International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala. He is also known for his sensitive filmmaking style that raises awareness of critical societal issues through his films and storytelling. Early life and career Varrun was born in a business family, and grew up in Khed, Ratnagiri, he later moved to Pune city for his higher studies. In 2016, he founded his own production house in Mumbai and directed his first TV series, Naammatra which was focused on farmer suicides in Maharashtra. In 2022, His documentary Film Too Much Democracy was released, based on 2020–2021 Indian farmers' protest. Shahu Of Kolhapur
Shahu (also known as Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu, Shahu IV, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj) (26 June 1874 – 6 May 1922) of the Bhonsle dynasty of Marathas was a Raja (reign. 1894 – 1900) and the first Maharaja (1900–1922) of the Indian princely state of Kolhapur. Zee Marathi is an Indian Marathi-language general entertainment pay television channel owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises. 2020–2021 Indian Farmers' Protest
The 2020–2021 Indian farmers' protest was a protest against three farm acts that were passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020. The acts, often called the Farm Bills, had been described as "anti-farmer laws" by many farmer unions, and politicians from the opposition who said that it would leave farmers at the "mercy of corporates" since the farmer-trader disputes were taken to SDM instead of judiciary. The protests demanded the creation of a minimum support price (MSP) bill, to ensure that corporates cannot control the prices. The Union Government, however, maintained that the laws would make it effortless for farmers to sell their produce directly to big buyers, and stated that the protests are based on misinformation.
