Saint Vardan
Vardan Mamikonian (; – 451) was an Armenians, Armenian military leader who led a rebellion against Sasanian Empire, Sasanian Iran in 450–451. He was the head of the Mamikonian noble family and holder of the hereditary title of , the supreme commander of the Armenian armed forces. Vardan and most of his comrades died at the Battle of Avarayr in 451, but their sacrifice was immortalized in the works of the Armenian historians Elishe, Yeghishe and Ghazar Parpetsi. He is regarded as a national hero among Armenians and venerated as a Christian martyr, martyr and a saint of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian Catholic Church. Vardan and the rebellion he led are commemorated in numerous works of art and literature. Vardan Areveltsi
Vardan Areveltsi (; Vardan the Easterner, – 1271 AD) was a medieval Armenian historian, geographer, philosopher and translator. Vardan Aigektsi
Vardan of Aygek (), also known as Vardan of Marata (; died 1250), was an Armenian Christian monk, famous for his works on Armenian folklore. Life Aygektsi was born in Ma'arrata, a village near Afrin, then located in the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. He was educated in the Monastery of Arkakaghin and received the title of vardapet. He first pursued his career in Amid and later near his ancestral lands. In 1198, he took part in the coronation ceremony of King Levon II. In 1208, he started living at the monastery of Aygek on the Amanus Mountains, near the village Yenicekale, for an unknown reason. He died in 1250. Vardan Kushnir
Vardan Vardanovich Kushnir (22 November 1969 – 24 July 2005) was a notorious spammer of Armenian-Jewish descent who ran the American Language Center (ALC) and who is believed to have spammed the entire population of Russian-language Internet users with ads for his language courses. Kushnir was murdered in 2005. Career According to some estimates, his ads reached 25 million users at his peak, between 2003 and 2004. Although only Muscovites were eligible to sign up, the ads went to many other countries, including Ukraine, the United States and Israel. Over the course of 2004, his output began to fall. He was almost completely forced off public email systems and resorted instead to using pager network ICQ. Vardan Minasyan
Vardan Minasyan (; born 5 January 1974) is an Armenian football manager and former player who is the football manager of Ararat-Armenia in the Armenian Premier League. He played as a midfielder in his native Armenia, in Switzerland and in Russia. Minasyan has been largely credited for advancing Armenia international and domestic football. He led Armenia to a record 3rd-place finish in Euro 2012 qualifications, where Armenia scored 22 goals, in his first qualification cycle. Minasyan was also the longest serving manager of the Armenian national squad to date and has the best match record of all the former managers of the national team. Vardan Martun Ghazaryan (; ; born 1 December 1969) is a football coach and former player. Born in Armenia, Ghazaryan moved to Lebanon and obtained citizenship through naturalisation in 1994. He played for Homenetmen and Sagesse as a striker, and represented Lebanon internationally from 1995 until 2001. Ghazaryan is the second-highest all-time scorer in the Lebanese Premier League, scoring 117 official league goals. He is also the second-highest scorer for the national team with 21 goals, after having been surpassed by Hassan Maatouk in 2023. Ghazaryan was appointed manager of Tripoli in 2017 for one year. Vardan Mkrtchi Ajemian (September 15, 1905January 24, 1977) was an Armenian theatrical director and actor. He was named People's Artist of USSR in 1965 and Hero of Socialist Labour in 1975. Biography Ajemian was born in Van, Turkey, Van, Ottoman Empire and studied in Yerevan and Moscow. In 1928 he founded the Second Armenian State Theatre (Gyumri State Theatre). In 1939 he moved to Yerevan Sundukian Theatre and became its artistic director. He directed Alexander Shirvanzade's ''For the Honour'' (1939), William Saroyan's ''My Heart is in the Mountains'' (1961), Papazian's ''Rock'' (1944), Nairi Zarian's ''Ara Geghetsik'' (1946), Aramashot Papayan's ''The World, Yes, Turned Upside Down'' (1967) and several musical presentations. Vardan Mamikonian (musician)
Vardan Mamikonian is an Armenian pianist, and also a naturalised French citizen. Mamikonian was born in Armenia into a musical family. He began his piano studies at the Yerevan School of Music at the age of 6. He continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory and at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Conservatory where he became a student of Valery Kastelsky, the last pupil of legendary teacher Heinrich Neuhaus. Further studies followed with Russian virtuoso Lazar Berman, and in 1981 he was awarded First Prize at the Balis Dvarionas Piano Competition in Vilnius. More first prizes followed - in 1990 at the Lefébure Competition in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and in 1992 at the World Music Masters Competition in Monte Carlo, reserved exclusively for winners of international competitions.
