Vanniasingham Vigneswaran
Vanniasingham Vigneswaran (died in 2006) was a Sri Lankan Tamil politician and president of the Trincomalee District Tamil Peoples' Forum. He was selected as the National List Member of Parliament to replace Joseph Pararajasingham by the Tamil National Alliance who had been assassinated to the Sri Lankan Parliament. Death Vigneswaran was shot dead at 9.30 am outside the Bank of Ceylon in Inner Harbor Road between the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police and Trincomalee Harbor Police in Trincomalee in a High Security Zone on 7 April 2006. Vigneswaran had led a campaign against the installation of a Buddha statue close to the Trincomalee central bus stand by the Sri Lankan Army in May 2005. In June 2005 grenades were thrown at his house. Nainativu
Nainativu ( ta, நயினாதீவு ''Nainatheevu'', si, නාගදීපය ''Nagadeepa''), is a small but notable island off the coast of Jaffna Peninsula in the Northern Province, Sri Lanka. The name of the island alludes to the folklore inhabitants, the Naga people. It is home to the Hindu shrine of Nagapooshani Amman Temple; one of the prominent 64 Shakti Peethas, and the Buddhist shrine Nagadeepa Purana Viharaya. Maamanithar or Maamanithan ( ta, மாமனிதர் ''Māmaṉitar''; great human being or supremely great man) was an honour awarded by the rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka. Joseph Pararajasingham
Joseph Pararajasingham ( ta, யோசப் பரராஜசிங்கம்; 26 November 1934 – 25 December 2005) was a Sri Lankan Tamil civil servant, journalist, businessman and politician. He was Member of Parliament for Batticaloa District from 1990 to 2004 and a National List Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2005. A member of the Tamil National Alliance, he was shot dead on Christmas Day 2005 as he attended midnight mass at St. Mary's Cathedral, Batticaloa. Early life and family Pararajasingham was born 26 November 1934 in Manipay in northern Ceylon. His family moved to Batticaloa when he was three years old.
