The Grand Prix Adrie van der Poel is a cyclo-cross race held in Hoogerheide, Netherlands, which is part of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is a season-long competition in cyclo-cross, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Flanders Classics. First held in the 1993–1994 season, there are currently six awards, tailored to the different ... and normally the final World Cup race. Eric Francis Edouard Ghislain Thérèse van de Poele (; born 30 September 1961) is a Belgian racing driver and former Formula One driver. He participated in 29 Grands Prix, in 1991 and 1992. He is a three-times class winner at 24 Hours of Le Mans, and won three Formula 3000 races in 1990. Before his Formula One career, he won the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft. Driving career After a difficult 1984 season in French Formula Three, van de Poele then won the Belgian and Benelux Formula Ford titles, also racing in the Belgian Touring Car Championship. Waid Robert Vanderpoel (May 19, 1922 – August 25, 2003) was an American financier and conservationist born in the neighborhood of Norwood Park, Chicago, Illinois. With a degree in finance, Vanderpoel was a notable financier throughout his career. He died in Barrington, Illinois. Personal life and education Waid Vanderpoel was born and raised in Norwood Park, a northwest Chicago neighborhood, to Helen and Robert Vanderpoel. Matilda Vanderpoel (1862-1950) was an American painter. She was known for her landscapes and portraits. Biography Vanderpoel was born on April 20, 1862, in Haarlemmermeer, The Netherlands. She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she was taught by her brother John Vanderpoel. She graduated in 1891. Vanderpoel exhibited her work at the Illinois Building at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. In 1898 Vanderpoel accepted a position teaching art at the Colorado Chautauqua in Boulder, Colorado. She spent her summers in the town of Gold Hill, Colorado, for several decades. In 1909 she began teaching at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where her brother John was serving as director. Cornelia Townsend (born 11 August 1851) was an American song composer who published most of her music under the name Kate Vanderpoel. Biography Townsend was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Horace Gilbert and Eliza Ann Thornton Townsend, one of nine children. Her siblings included her twin brother George who built the Kansas City, Clay County & St. Joseph Railway, and her brother Edward, a writer, journalist, and U.S. Congressman. She studied with Achille Errani in New York.
