Vamping Venus
''Vamping Venus'' is a 1928 American synchronized sound comedy film directed by Edward F. Cline, written by Howard J. Green and Ralph Spence, and starring Charles Murray, Louise Fazenda, Thelma Todd, Russ Powell, Joe Bonomo and Guinn "Big Boy" Williams. While the film has no audible dialog, it was released with a synchronized musical score with sound effects using the sound-on-disc Vitaphone process. It was released on May 13, 1928, by First National Pictures. Plot As described in a copyright application, Michael Cassidy may be the political boss of the Tenth Ward, popular with everyone, but at home Maggie Cassidy is his boss. When his henchmen prepare the Silver Spoon Nightclub for his annual dinner, Maggie tells him that he is going to stay at home and help entertain her brother's family. Yola d'Avril (8 April 1906 – 2 March 1984) was a French-American actress, who appeared in numerous productions between 1925 and 1953. She was also known as Yola Vermairion and Yola d'Avril Montiague. Biography D'Avril was born in Lille, France, and died in Port Hueneme, California as Yola d'Avril Montiague. During World War I, her family relocated to Paris. Gustav von Seyffertitz (4 August 1862 – 25 December 1943) was a German film actor and director. He settled in the United States. He was born in Haimhausen, Bavaria, and died in Los Angeles, California, aged 81. Biography Gustav von Seyffertitz was born into an aristocratic family as the son of Guido Freiherr von Seyffertitz and his wife Anna Gräfin von Butler Clonebough zu Haimhausen. His family expected him to start a military career, but was shocked when he said that he wanted to be an actor. He was a member of the Meiningen Court Theatre and also appeared in operas. He emigrated to the United States in 1896, after being asked by the Austrian-American theatre director Heinrich Conried. Walter D. "Spec" O'Donnell (April 9, 1911 – October 14, 1986) was an American film actor who appeared in more than 190 films between 1923 and 1978. He worked frequently for producer Hal Roach, often appearing in silent comedies as the bratty son of Max Davidson or Charley Chase. His sound-era roles were mostly uncredited bits, often as bellhops, newsboys, and pages; he was playing adolescent roles well into his twenties. In Greek mythology, Circe (; ) is an enchantress, sometimes considered a goddess or a nymph.
