Valley View High School is comprehensive public high school for students in grades 10 through 12 located in southwestern area of Jonesboro, Arkansas, United States. Established in 1925, the northeastern Arkansas school is administered by the Valley View School District and is accredited by AdvancED and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). Academics Curriculum The assumed course of study is the ADE Smart Core curriculum with students completing regular (core and career focus) courses and exams and may select Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and exams that offer an opportunity to receive college credit prior to graduation. Slade Michael Caldwell (born June 18, 2006) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Amateur career Caldwell lives in Jonesboro, Arkansas and attends the Valley View High School. During his sophomore year he hit .511 with nine home runs and 48 RBI with 41 stolen bases. Caldwell was named the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior after batting .512 with five HR, 31 RBI, and 40 stolen bases while also going 7-1 with a 2.31 ERA and 72 strikeouts as a pitcher. After the season Caldwell was selected to play in the 2023 MLB High School All-American Game. He committed to play college baseball at Ole Miss during his freshman year of high school. The United States Presidential Scholars Program is a program of the United States Department of Education. It is described as "one of the nation's highest honors for high school students" in the United States of America. The program was established in 1964 by executive order of Lyndon B. Johnson, then the president of the United States to recognize the most distinguished graduating seniors for their academic achievements. Arkansas Governor's School
The Arkansas Governor's School (also known as Arkansas Governor's School for the Gifted and Talented or AGS) is a publicly funded four-week (formerly six-week) residential summer program offered to rising seniors in the state of Arkansas. The school typically accepts around 400 students each year. Modeled after the Governor's School of North Carolina, AGS was founded by governor Bill Clinton in 1979. From 1979 until 2018, the program took place on the grounds of Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. On September 13, 2018, the Arkansas Board of Education voted to move the program to Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas.
