Valery Gordeev
Valery Dmitrievich Gordeev (born 28 August 1952 in Balakovo, Soviet Union) is a former Soviet international motorcycle speedway rider. Career Gordeev reached the finals of the Speedway World Championship five times in 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975 and 1976. He also won the Continental Speedway final in 1973. Gordeev won the Soviet Championship on five occasions in 1975, 1977, 1978, 1986 and 1987 and the Russian Championship twice, in 1971 and 1977. In 1973, he was part of the Soviet team that secured the bronze medal at the 1973 Speedway World Team Cup. In 1977, Cradley Heathens made an attempt to sign the Gordeev brothers but despite the difficulties involved in gaining clearance to race in England. Family His older brother Vladimir Gordeev is also a former rider who reached the World Final on three occasions. Silesian Stadium
The Silesian Stadium (; Polish: ) is a sport stadium located on the premises of Silesian Park in Chorzów, Poland. The stadium has a fully covered capacity of 54,378, after refurbishment completed in October 2017. The stadium hosted many Poland national football team matches and for many decades was Poland's national stadium. After the National Stadium in Warsaw was completed, the Silesian Stadium lost that role. The stadium was not in operation between 2009 and 2017 due to its ongoing reconstruction. Anatoly Kuzmin (speedway Rider)
Anatoly Kuzmin (3 March 1950 – 7 January 1978) was a Soviet international speedway rider. Speedway career Kuzmin reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1972 Individual Speedway World Championship. He was one of six Russians that competed in the 1972 World final after strong performances in the Continental final and European final. When Kuzmin was drafted into the army in 1969, he moved to Daugavpils and became part of the Lokomotiv Daugavpils team from 1969 to 1988. He won the Latvian Championship in 1976 and 1977. He also won the bronze medal at the Soviet Union championship in 1972. Kuzmin died in a car accident on 7 January 1978. The 1974 Speedway World Team Cup was the 15th edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. The final took place at Stadion Śląski, Chorzów in Poland. Viktor Ivanovich Trofimov () (22 March 1938 – 1 October 2013) was a Soviet international speedway rider. Career Trofimov born in Leningrad, Soviet Union. reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in 1972 and 1975. He also finished on the rostrum of the World Team Cup nine times between 1965 and 1976 but never won a gold medal. He achieved four silver (1966, 1971, 1972, 1975) and three bronze (1967, 1969, 1973) medals. In 1965 he toured the United Kingdom as part of the Soviet Union national team, it was only the second ever tour of the UK by the Soviet Union.
