Valery Engel
Valery Engel (born June 19, 1961 in Moscow) is a Russian historian and public figure. He has served as the Deputy Chairman of the international human rights movement "World without Nazism" (WWN), the first deputy of the World Congress of Russian Jewry, the president of the European Centre for the Development of Democracy in Latvia, and is a member of the European Jewish Parliament, where he represents Latvia. Biography Valery Engel was born in Moscow, USSR. In 1983 he graduated from the history faculty of Moscow State Pedagogical University. In 1995, at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Science, he defended his thesis on "The Jewish Question in Russian-American relations late XIX - early XX centuries."; Ph.D. in History. World Without Nazism
World Without Nazism (WWN) (russian: Мир без нацизма, МБН), or Mir Bez Natsizma (MBN), is a Russian political organization with ties to Vladimir Putin's government, which claims to campaign against "neo-fascism." The group has also been described, by security agencies from Estonia and Latvia, as a Russian propaganda organization, and as a Kremlin-sponsored GONGO, which aims to advance Russian foreign policies against formerly Soviet-occupied countries and to promote "a Soviet-era approach to World War II". The organization was founded and is led by Boris Spiegel, a Russian oligarch with close ties to Putin. It was founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, on 22 June 2010, and is registered in Strasbourg, France. European Jewish Parliament
The European Jewish Parliament or EJP (formerly known as European Jewish Union or EJU) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Brussels whose stated aim is to be "a uniting structure for all Jewish communities and organizations throughout Western, Eastern and Central Europe as well as establish a permanent relationship with the European Parliament as well as national parliaments." The EJU-backed EJP is the brainchild of Ukrainian billionaire Vadim Rabinovich. Moscow State Pedagogical University or Moscow State University of Education is an educational and scientific institution in Moscow, Russia, with eighteen faculties and seven branches operational in other Russian cities. The institution had undergone a series of name changes since its establishment in 1872. History The university originates in the Moscow Higher Courses for Women founded by Vladimir Guerrier in 1872. It was subsequently reconstituted several times. The World Jewish Congress (WJC) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in August 1936 as an international federation of Jewish communities and organizations. According to its mission statement, the World Jewish Congress' main purpose is to act as "the diplomatic arm of the Jewish people." Membership in the WJC is open to all representative Jewish groups or communities, irrespective of the social, political or economic ideology of the community's host country.
