Valerian Bernard Freyberg, 3rd Baron Freyberg (born 15 December 1970) is a British hereditary peer, who sits in the House of Lords as a crossbencher. Biography Freyberg was born on 15 December 1970 to Paul Freyberg, 2nd Baron Freyberg and Ivry Perronelle Katharine ( Guild). He studied at Camberwell College of Arts, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1994. He later studied fine art at the Slade School of Fine Art, graduating with a Master of Arts (MA) degree in 2006. He succeeded his father as Baron Freyberg in 1993. Valerian Vladimirovich Kuybyshev (; – 25 January 1935) was a Russian revolutionary, Red Army officer, and prominent Soviet politician. Biography Early years Born in Omsk in Siberia on , Kuybyshev studied at the , a Cadet Corps in Omsk. He joined the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1904. The following year, he entered the Imperial Military-medical Academy in Saint Petersburg, but was expelled in 1906 for controversial political activities. Revolutionary career Between 1906 and 1914 Kuybyshev carried out subversive activities for the Bolsheviks throughout the Russian Empire, for which he was exiled to Narym in Siberia. Valerian Kalinka (or Walerian Kalinka; 20 November 1826 – 16 December 1886) was a Polish priest and historian. Biography Kalinka was born in Kraków, but fled from Poland in 1846 on account of political entanglements and his involvement in the Krakow Uprising. Kalinka was the founder of the Polish branch of the Resurrectionist Order. He worked on the "Czas" newspaper in 1848, but finally took refuge in Paris, where his first work was written -- ''Galicia und Cracoio'', an historical and social picture of the country from 1772 to 1850. He afterwards thought of writing a history of Polish emigration, but eventually chose to edit a weekly periodical entitled "Political Polish News", the principal contributors to which were himself and Julian Klaczko. Valerian Michaylovich Griboedov formerly romanized as: Valerian Michaelovich Gribayedoff (Russian: Валериан Михайлович Грибоедов) (1858–1908) was a Russian journalist and illustrator. He is most famous for introducing illustrated drawings into newspapers and capturing some of the only photos during the trial for the Dreyfus Affair in 1897. He was born in Kronstadt, Russia in 1858, and many believed him to have been of noble birth, possibly related to Alexander Griboyedov. Educated in St. Petersburg, England, France, and Germany, he came later to America working as a journalist, rising to prominence by recreating drawings from photos to be included in the newspapers that were more lifelike than any others in the field.
