Valeri Georgiev
Valeri Georgiev ( bg, Валери Георгиев; born 28 July 1984) is a Bulgarian people, Bulgarian Association football, footballer, who currently plays as a defender for OFC Vihren Sandanski, Vihren Sandanski. Career He started his career in home town Blagoevgrad in local team PFC Pirin Blagoevgrad, Pirin. On 3 March 2005 Valeri made his official debut in the A PFG, Bulgarian top division in a match against PFC Spartak 1918, Spartak Varna. He played for 8 minutes. The result of the match was a 2:0 win for Pirin. Up to the end of season 2004/05 Georgiev played in only 3 matches. In June 2005 he was transferred to FC Vihren Sandanski for a fee of 20 000 € and fast becomes part of the titular team. From 2008 Valeri Georgiev is a captain of Vihren. Blagoevgrad ( bg, Благоевград ) is а town in Southwestern Bulgaria, the administrative centre of Blagoevgrad Municipality and of Blagoevgrad Province. With a population of almost inhabitants, it is the economic and cultural centre of Southwestern Bulgaria. It is located in the valley of the Struma River at the foot of the Rila Mountains, south of Sofia, close to the border with North Macedonia. Blagoevgrad features a pedestrian downtown, with preserved 19th-century architecture and numerous restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and boutiques. It is home to two universities, the South-West University "Neofit Rilski" and the American University in Bulgaria. The town also hosts the "Sts. FC Vihren Sandanski
OFC Vihren ( bg, ОФК Вихрен) is a Bulgarian football club from the town of Sandanski, currently playing in the South-West Third League. Sandanski's home ground is the Sandanski Stadium in Sandanski with a capacity of 6,000. Vihren Sandanski's team colours are green and white. Vihren was founded in 1925, changing its name several times during its early existence. Up until the early 2000s, Vihren played mostly in either the second or third tiers of Bulgarian football. Season 2004-05 is arguably the most important in the club's history, as the team managed to promote to the A PFG, or first tier of Bulgarian football, for the first time. Vihren managed to play four consecutive seasons in the elite, before suffering relegation after the 2008-09 season. Since then, the Gladiators have played mostly in the third regional tier.
