Valentin Zamotaykin
Valentin Alekseyevich Zamotaykin (; 27 December 1939 in Partizansk – 7 October 1987 in Moscow) was a sailor from the Soviet Union. Zamotaykin represented his country at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Enoshima. Zamotaykin took 13th place in the 5.5 Metre with Konstantin Aleksandrov (sailor) as helmsman and Konstantin Melgunov as fellow crew member. His second Olympic appearance was during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Kiel. Zamotaykin took 7th place in the Soling with Timir Pinegin as helmsman and Rais Galimov as fellow crew member. In 1976 Zamotaykin returned to the Olympics. Partizansk () is a town in Primorsky Krai, Russia, located on a spur of the Sikhote-Alin Mountains, about east of Vladivostok, the administrative center of the krai. As of the 2010 census, the population is population 38,659. Names The town was formerly known as Suchan ( - literally "City of Su" or ), but its Russian name was changed to Partizansk in 1972 during a general campaign of cleansing Chinese toponyms in Russian Far East. Geography A number of creeks flow through the town into the nearby Partizanskaya River, previously known as the Suchan. History In the late 19th century, the Vladivostok-based Russian Pacific Fleet was in deep need of a source of coal. Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada, on the northeastern end of Lake Ontario. Sailing At The 1976 Summer Olympics
Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad ( 1896 Olympics in Athens, Greece). With the exception of 1904 and the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule. The sailing program of 1976 consisted of six sailing classes (disciplines). For each class, seven races were scheduled from 19 July 1976 to 27 July 1976 off the coast of Kingston, Ontario, on Lake Ontario. The sailing was done on the triangular-type Olympic courses.
