Lunca de Jos ( hu, Gyimesközéplok, : , colloquially ''Középlok'') is a commune in Harghita County, Transylvania, Romania. It lies in the ethno-cultural region Szekely land. Component villages The commune is composed of nine villages: History The village was historically part of the Székely Land region of Transylvania province. The first reports of settlers in the area was from 1721. It became independent from Gyimesbükk in 1795. The birth registry starts from 1854. The village belonged to CsÃkszék district until the administrative reform of Transylvania in 1876, when they fell within the CsÃk County in the Kingdom of Hungary. After the Treaty of Trianon of 1920, they became part of Romania and fell within Ciuc County during the interwar period. In 1940, the second Vienna Award granted the Northern Transylvania to Hungary and the villages were held by Hungary until 1944. Band ( Hungarian: ''MezÅ‘bánd''; Hungarian pronunciation: ) is a commune in MureÈ™ County, Transylvania, Romania, composed of eleven villages: *Band *Drăculea Bandului / Drekulyatelep *FânaÈ›e / Fekete *IÈ™tan-Tău / Istentó *MărășeÈ™ti / Marosesd *Negrenii de Câmpie / Feketelak *Oroiu / Székelyuraly *Petea / MezÅ‘pete *Èšiptelnic / Száltelek *Valea Mare / Nagyvölgy *Valea Rece / Hidegvölgy MădăraÈ™ village was part of the commune until 2004, when it was split off to form a separate commune. In 2011, FânaÈ›ele MădăraÈ™ului village was also split off and transferred to MădăraÈ™ Commune. Demographics The commune is ethnically mixed and has a relative Székely Hungarian majority. According to the 2002 Census it has a population of 7,726 of which 45.42% or 3,509 are Hungarian, 2,868 or 37.12% Romanians and 1,349 or 17.46% Roma.
