Val Veny
Val Veny (also Val Vény) is a lateral valley of the Mont Blanc massif, lying to the south-west of Courmayeur. The valley head is at the Seigne Pass. Geography Val Veny was formed by two glaciers: the Miage Glacier and the Brenva Glacier. Val Veny is divided into three parts: * the part that lies parallel to the Mont Blanc massif, between the Seigne pass (2,512m) and part of the Miage Glacier * the part called ''Plan Vény'' * the mouth of the valley, dominated by Mont Blanc and the lower Brenva Glacier (1,444m) Chécrouit Lake (2,165m) lies on the right side of the Val Veny, near Courmayeur. Refuge Francesco Gonella
The Gonella Hut ( French: ''Refuge Francesco Gonella''; Italian: ''Rifugio Francesco Gonella''), sometimes called in Italian ''Rifugio del Dôme'' or in French ''Refuge du Dôme'' (" Dôme Hut"), is a high elevation mountain hut in the Aosta Valley in the Mont Blanc massif area of the Alps. It lies at an elevation of 3071 metres, above Val Veny near Courmayeur in Italy. The refuge is located on the Italian normal route to Mont Blanc. Refuge Quintino Sella (Mont-Blanc)
The Quintino Sella Hut ( French: ''Refuge Quintino Sella'') is a very remote bivouac hut in the Mont Blanc massif of the Alps in Aosta Valley, Italy. Built in 1885, it is perched on rocks on the south-western flank of the Rocher du Mont Blanc at an altitude of 3,396 m. It is owned by the CAI and can accommodate up to sixteen people with bunk and blankets provided, but no stove or warden. Notre Dame De Guérison Sanctuary
Notre-Dame-de-Guérison (French for "Our Lady the Healer") is a Christian sanctuary situated in Courmayeur, at the foot of Mont Chétif, along the Val Veny road that leads to the Seigne pass, used by the Romans to reach Gaul. Dent Du Géant
The Dent du Géant ( It.: Dente del Gigante, "giant's tooth") (4,013 m) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif in France and Italy. The Dent du Géant remained unclimbed during the golden age of alpinism, and was a much-coveted peak in the 1870s, repelling many parties who attempted it mostly from the Rochefort ridge. In 1880 the strong team of Albert F. Mummery and Alexander Burgener tried to force a passage via the south-west face but were repelled by a band of slabs, causing Mummery to exclaim, 'Absolutely inaccessible by fair means!' The mountain has two summits, apart and separated by a small col (an 'extremely awkward notch' according to W. W. Brenva Glacier
The Brenva Glacier (, ) is a valley glacier, located on the southern side of the Mont Blanc massif in the Alps. It is the second longest and eighth largest glacier in Italy, and descends down into Val Veny, close to Entrèves, near Courmayeur. Over the centuries it has experienced a number of major rock avalanches which have shaped the glacier and influenced its movement.
