Vaksdal Station
Vaksdal Station ( no, Vaksdal stasjon) is a railway station located in the village of Vaksdal in the municipality of Vaksdal, Vestland county, Norway. The station is located along the Bergen Line. The station is served by twelve daily departures per direction by the Bergen Commuter Rail operated by Vy Tog, as well by the night train to Oslo Central Station. The station opened in 1883 as part of the Voss Line. The restaurant in the station was taken over by Norsk Spisevognselskap on 1 January 1924, and it was closed on 15 December 1935. Vaksdal is a village in Vaksdal municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the southern shore of the Veafjorden, across the fjord from the village of Bruvik which sits on the island of Osterøy. The European route E16 highway goes through the village, as does the Bergen Line, which stops at the Vaksdal Station. Vaksdal Church was built in the village in 1933. Norsk Spisevognselskap A/S, often abbreviated NSS or shortened to Spisevognselskapet (Norwegian for "The Dining Car Company"), was a Norwegian state enterprise which operated restaurant carriages on Norwegian trains and restaurants at railway stations and railway hotels. The company was established in December 1918, and started a catering service in 1919. Originally owned by the Norwegian Trunk Railway, it was acquired by the state in 1926. Meals served in the restaurant carriages were relatively expensive, although they were available to all passengers. In the 1950s, the company began using serving trolleys on trains. In January 1975, NSS merged with the convenience-store chain Narvesen Kioskkompani into a new company called Narvesen–Spisevognselskapet. Voss Line
The Voss Line ( no, Vossebanen) is a railway line from Bergen to Voss in Vestland, Norway. It opened on 11 July 1883 and was extended to Oslo as the Bergen Line on 27 November 1909. It was built as narrow gauge, but converted to with the connection with the Bergen Line. It was electrified in 1954, and shortened by the Ulriken Tunnel in 1963. In addition to carrying long-haul passenger and freight trains on the Bergen Line, it is the main part of Bergen Commuter Rail. is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordhordland. The administrative centre is the village of Dalekvam. Other villages in Vaksdal include Dalegarden, Flatkvål, Helle, Nesheim, Stamneshella, Stanghelle, and Vaksdal. The municipality is the 160th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway.
