Reconstruction controversy During the modernization a new modular station was built, a tree-covered building in which ticket sales will take place, and a toilet is also available. At the time of modernization, the old building was demolished, the station building was moved and the old toilet was removed. The demolition of the old station building, and the replacement with metal containers, caused a great deal of indignation in society and in the media. Jūrmala
Jūrmala (; "seaside") is a state city in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, about west of Riga. Jūrmala is a resort town stretching and is sandwiched between the Gulf of Riga and the Lielupe River. It has a stretch of white-sand beach and is the fifth-largest city in Latvia. Torņakalns – Tukums II Railway
Torņakalns is a neighbourhood of Riga, Latvia located on the western bank of the Daugava River (neighbourhoods along this shore are collectively known as Pārdaugava). The name Torņakalns ('' English: Tower Hill'') derives from a fortified tower built in the Middle Ages close to the Daugava River to alarm the city of Riga in case of emergency and intruders about to cross the river. The tower does not stand nowadays. Overview Torņakalns was an early suburb to Riga, consisting largely of gardens and mansions.
