Vahap Şanal
Vahap Şanal (born 26 May 1998) is a Turkish chess grandmaster and two-time Turkish Chess Champion. Chess career In 2006, Şanal became the youngest player on the Turkish national team at the age of eight and defeated world champion Magnus Carlsen in an online blitz game in 2019. Şanal won the 4th World Schools Chess Championships, U11 section in 2008, scoring 8.5/9, and becoming a Candidate master in the process. In 2012, he won the European School Championship Open 15, scoring 8.5/9, and also became a FIDE Master that year. He won the Turkish Chess Championship in 2019 and 2020. He qualified to play in the Chess World Cup 2021 and Chess World Cup 2023. Şanal took part in the 23rd European Chess Championship and won the individual bronze medal for his board. In 2022, Şanal played first board at Turkish Chess Super League. He scored 9/12 winning the first board prize with performance of 2796. European Team Chess Championship
The European Team Championship (often abbreviated in texts and games databases as ''ETC'') is an international team chess event, eligible for the participation of European nations whose chess federations are located in zones 1.1 to 1.9. Vasyl Mykhaylovych Ivanchuk ( uk, Василь Михайлович Іванчук; born March 18, 1969), also transliterated as Vassily Ivanchuk, is a Ukrainian chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 1988. A leading player since 1988, Ivanchuk has been ranked at No. 2 on the FIDE world rankings three times (July 1991, July 1992, October 2007). Ivanchuk has won Linares, Wijk aan Zee, Tal Memorial, Gibraltar Masters and M-Tel Masters titles. He has also won the World Blitz Championship in 2007 and the World Rapid Championship in 2016. Anton Korobov
Anton Sergiyovych Korobov ( ua, Антон Сергійович Коробов; born 25 June 1985) is a Ukrainian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 2003. Korobov is a four-time Ukrainian champion. He was voted the best male chess player of Ukraine of 2012. Chess career Korobov won the Ukrainian Chess Championship in 2002, 2012, 2018, 2020 and finished second behind Andrei Volokitin in 2004. Nodirbek Abdusattorov (born 18 September 2004) is an Uzbek chess grandmaster and the 2021 World Rapid Chess Champion. A chess prodigy, he qualified for the grandmaster title at the age of 13 years, 1 month, and 11 days. FIDE awarded him the title in April 2018. The Chess World Cup 2023 was a 206-player single-elimination chess tournament that took place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 30 July to 24 August 2023. It was the 10th edition of the Chess World Cup. The top three finishers in the tournament qualified for the 2024 Candidates Tournament. The tournament was held in parallel with the Women's Chess World Cup 2023. Jan-Krzysztof Duda was the defending champion. He lost in the fifth round (last 16) to Fabiano Caruana. Format The tournament was an eight-round knockout event, with the top 50 seeds having been given a bye directly into the second round. The Chess World Cup 2021 was a 206-player single-elimination chess tournament that took place in Sochi, Russia, beginning 12 July and ending 6 August 2021. It was the 9th edition of the Chess World Cup. The winner of this tournament was the Polish GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who won without losing any games either in classical chess or in the rapid tiebreakers. The two finalists (Duda and Sergey Karjakin) qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2022. The rest of the final eight, except Magnus Carlsen, qualified for the FIDE Grand Prix 2022.
