''V'' is the debut studio album by Australian electropop group Van She, released on 9 August 2008 by Modular Recordings. After writing a bulk of the songs from a small farm house south of Sydney, in early 2007 the band packed for the UK, where they recorded the album with UK producer Jim Abbiss, whose previous work includes production for Placebo, Arctic Monkeys and Massive Attack. Van She were an electropop band formed in early 2002 in Sydney, Australia, with Matt Van Schie (pronounced Van Ski) on bass guitar/vocals, Tomek Archer on drum kit, drums/music sequencer, sequencer, Michael Di Francesco on synthesizer, synth/guitar and Nicholas Routledge on vocals/guitar. Modular Recordings (known simply as Modular) was an Australian record label founded in 1998 by Steve Pavlovic that by 2015 was owned by Universal Music Australia. Jim Abbiss is a British music producer, best known for his work on records including the debut album of Editors ('' The Back Room''), Arctic Monkeys' Mercury Music Prize winning debut album, '' Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'', Kasabian's '' Kasabian'' and ''Empire'', Ladytron's '' Witching Hour'' and '' Ladytron'', Sneaker Pimps' debut '' Becoming X'', and Adele's '' 19'', and '' 21''. Electropop
Electropop is a popular music fusion genre combining elements of the electronic and pop styles. It has been described as a variant of synth-pop with emphasis on a hard electronic sound. Placebo ( ) are a British alternative rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal, and in late 1994 Robert Schultzberg joined as drummer.
