VIC (TV Series)
''VIC'' () is a Toggle Original drama series. It was originally released on Toggle on Thursdays, and later aired on Mediacorp Channel U on Sundays. The show depicts the media and modelling industry, and contains some supernatural elements. It was the first Toggle Original Series to be nominated for Best Drama Serial, Best Theme Song and Best Actress for Star Awards. It stars model-actress Sheila Sim, Carrie Wong, Desmond Tan, Irene Ang, Steven Chiang, Jasmine Sim and Cheryl Chou as the main cast. The cast also includes real-life models and past contestants of Miss Universe Singapore. Synopsis Vicky takes part in a reality show ''Fresh Off The Runway'', hoping to become a top model. Carrie Wong Si Tian (born 1 January 1994) is a Singaporean actress. She was discovered through the reality television competition '' Hey Gorgeous''. Early life The only child of a housewife mother and father who works in a security firm, Wong was raised in a Chinese-speaking family. Sheila Sim Hui Yi (born 7 June 1984) is a Singaporean actress, model and businesswoman. Early life and education Sim attended Radin Mas Primary School and CHIJ Saint Theresa's Convent. She later studied at Nanyang Polytechnic but dropped out after three months. Sim graduated from Marketing Institute of Singapore with a diploma in sales and marketing and Curtin Singapore with a degree in advertising and marketing respectively. Star Awards (Chinese: 红星大奖) are awards for artistic and technical merit where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year. The awards are given annually in a ceremony. The various category winners are awarded a trophy, with initial designs featuring various star shapes. The star was subsequently removed and the trophy is designed as an S-shaped column, depicting the star. History The first Star Awards presentation was held on 26 February 1994, took place at the Caldecott Broadcast Centre, Mediacorp TV Theatre with an audience of about 500 people. There have no other pre-show and post-awards ceremony held in that year. ''Against the Tide'' () is a psychological thriller drama produced by MediaCorp Channel 8. This drama features different crime cases. Each case lasts 3-5 episodes and features a main character of the case. The drama began production in March 2014 and wrapped up its filming in May 2014. It was aired from 24 September 2014 to 24 October 2014 and has a total of 23 episodes. Plot Acclaimed novelist Di Shen's mission is to expose evil in humans, as he believes that all humans are born depraved. While Di Shen is doing a television interview, a girl escapes her captivity in which she was tortured and abused. As police officers Zhou Jianfeng and Guo Jingcheng fail to obtain information from the girl, they ask for help from the psychiatrist Qiu Xueqing who, through hypnosis reveals that the assailant had a copy of Di Shen's novel. Zoe Tay Hui Gek (born 10 January 1968) is a Singaporean actress and former model. She has been referred to as the "Queen of Caldecott Hill" and "Ah Jie". Timothee Yap Jin Wei (; born 5 November 1994) is a Singaporean sprinter. He has represented Singapore at several major international competitions across the various age categories and at the senior level. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's 100 metres race; his time of 10.79 seconds in the second round did not qualify him for the semifinals. Athletics Yap took part in the Summer Olympics at the Rio 2016 where he participated in the 100m sprint. In the preliminaries, he clocked a time of 10.84s and finished second in Heat 3.
