In Royal Navy jargon, a man-of-war (also man-o'-war, or simply man) was a powerful warship or frigate of the 16th to the 19th century, that was frequently used in Europe. Although the term never acquired a specific meaning, it was usually reserved for a sailing ship armed with cannon. Edward Low
Edward Low (also spelled Lowe or Loe; c. 16901724) was a pirate of English origin during the latter days of the Golden Age of Piracy, in the early 18th century. Low was born into poverty in Westminster, London, and was a thief from an early age. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts, as a young man. His wife died in childbirth in late 1719. Two years later, he became a pirate, operating off the coasts of New England and the Azores, and in the Caribbean. Low captained a number of ships, usually maintaining a small fleet of three or four. Careening
Careening (also known as "heaving down") is a method of gaining access to the hull of a sailing vessel without the use of a dry dock. It is used for cleaning or repairing the hull. Before ship's hulls were protected from marine growth by fastening copper sheets over the surface of the hull, fouling by this growth would seriously affect the sailing qualities of a ship, causing a large amount of drag. As this growth was underwater, removing it was difficult. Beaching the vessel at high tide allowed the lower hull to be exposed for cleaning or repairs. Etymology The term, and similar terms in French, Spanish and Italian, derive from the term for a ship's keel—''carène'' (French), ''carena'' (Spanish), ''carena'' (Italian). These come from the Latin term for keel, ''carīna''. Bradley Caleb Kane (born September 29, 1973) is an American actor, singer, producer and screenwriter. He has performed the singing voice of Aladdin in the titular Disney franchise since its first film (1992). Career Kane began to act with a small role in the film '' Six Weeks''.
