Uzh National Nature Park
Uzh National Nature Park () is a protected area in Ukraine. It is located in Uzhhorod Raion of Zakarpattia Oblast, at the border with Poland and Slovakia. The park was created on 5 August 1999 and has the area of . Since 2007, it is part of the World Heritage site Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe. It is also part of the East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. The park was created to protect the pristine beech forest of the Carpathians. History In 1908, when the Transcarpathia still belonged to the Austria-Hungary, Austro-Hungarian Empire, a nature reserve in the upper valley of the Stuzhychanka River to protect the beech forest landscape. Velykyi Bereznyi
Velykyi Bereznyi (; ; ) is a rural settlement in Uzhhorod Raion, Zakarpattia Oblast, western Ukraine. The settlement was formerly the administrative center of Velykyi Bereznyi Raion, housing the district's local administration buildings until the raion's abolition, and is now administered within Uzhhorod Raion. The settlement's population was 6,655 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census and 7,078 in 2011. Current population: History The first mention of the settlement, named after the birch tree (, ), dates back to 1409, when the kenez (headman) Boncha prosecuted the culprit for some crime and a trial was held over him. Lemkos
Lemkos (; ; ; ) are an ethnic group inhabiting the Lemko Region (; ) of Carpathian Rus', an ethnographic region in the Carpathian Mountains and foothills spanning Ukraine, Slovakia, and Poland. Lemkos are often considered to be a sub-group of Rusyns. Members of these groups have historically also been given other designations, such as ''Verkhovyntsi'' ("highlanders"). Among people of the Carpathian highlands, communities speaking the same dialect will identify with a different ethnic label when crossing borders due to the influence of state-sponsored education and media. As well, the same community may switch its preferred identification over time. Badger
Badgers are medium-sized short-legged omnivores in the superfamily Musteloidea. Badgers are a polyphyletic rather than a natural taxonomic grouping, being united by their squat bodies and adaptions for fossorial activity rather than by their ancestral relationships: Musteloidea contains several families, only two of which (the "weasel family" Mustelidae and the "skunk family" Mephitidae) include badgers; moreover, both of these families also include various other animals that are not badgers. The red fox (''Vulpes vulpes'') is the largest of the true foxes and one of the most widely distributed members of the order Carnivora, being present across the entire Northern Hemisphere including most of North America, Europe and Asia, plus parts of North Africa. Red Deer
The red deer (''Cervus elaphus'') is one of the largest deer species. A male red deer is called a stag or Hart (deer), hart, and a female is called a doe or hind. The red deer inhabits most of Europe, the Caucasus Mountains region, Anatolia, Iran, and parts of western Asia. It also inhabits the Atlas Mountains of Northern Africa, being the only living species of deer to inhabit Africa.
