Uxue Alberdi
Uxue Alberdi Estibaritz (Elgoibar, Gipuzkoa, 18 March 1984) is a Basque writer and bertsolari. Biography She studied at the Leioa campus and graduated in journalism. She started winning Bertsolaritza competitions in 2003, Julene Azpeitia from Durango was the first, followed by the Xenpelar Award in 2006, and the Osinalde Award for young bertsolari in 2008. In 2005, thanks to the Igartza scholarship for young writers, she wrote his first book: ''Aulki bat elurretan'' (2007). In 2007, thanks also to another creative scholarship, the Joseba Jaka Scholarship, she wrote the book ''Aulki jokoa'' (2009). Elgoibar
Elgoibar () is an industrial town located in the province of Gipuzkoa, in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country, northern Spain. Located in a valley, it is traversed by the Deba River, Deba river. Elgoibar is nicknamed the "capital city of the Machine tool". Originally the town was called Villamayor de Marquina, but it had been founded in a place called before Elgoibar field. The town came to be known by this name a few centuries of its foundation. Until the mid-15th century it appears in the documentation as Villamayor de Marquina, but in the statutes of the Brotherhood of Gipuzkoa of 1457 and 1463 years appears with the Elgoibar name and it has prevailed until today. Bertsolaritza
Bertsolaritza or bertsolarism is the art of singing improvised songs in Basque according to various melodies and rhyming patterns. Bertsos can be composed at a variety of occasions but are performed generally by one or various ''bertsolaris'' onstage in an event arranged for the purpose or as a sideshow, in homage ceremonies, in benefit lunches and suppers, with friends or at a competition. Such a sung piece of composition is called a ''bertso'', the person who sings it is called a ''bertsolari'' and the art of composing bertsos is called ''bertsolaritza'' in Basque. Traditionally these were sung by men but there is an increasing number of young female bertsolaris today. Leioa
Leioa () is a municipality in Biscay, Basque Country, in northern Spain. It is located south of Getxo and Berango delimitating east and south with Erandio, Portugalete and Sestao. Great Bertsolari Championship
The Great Bertsolari Championship (Bertsolari Txapelketa Nagusia) is a championship among bertsolaris from all over the Basque Country. It is contested every four years and the current 2022 champion is Maialen Lujanbio. History It was first organized by Euzko Gaztedi in 1935 and 1936. Then there was a hiatus of the Spanish Civil War and its subsequent repression. Euskaltzaindia took some years of organizational responsibility in 1960, 1962, 1965, and 1967. The next, with a thirteen-year break, were held in 1980 and 1982, and Xabier Amuriza won both.
