Uwch Conwy
Uwch Conwy is an electoral ward in the southern central part of Conwy County Borough, Wales. It covers three communities, of Bro Garmon, Bro Machno and Ysbyty Ifan. According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the ward was 1,465. County council elections The ward elects a county councillor to Conwy County Borough Council and, at the May 2017 election, the seat was won by Wyn Ellis Jones for Plaid Cymru. The seat has been represented by Plaid Cymru since 1999. Cllr Jones took the seat unopposed in May 2004, subsequently being elected unopposed in May 2008 and May 2012. Conwy (, ), previously known in English as Conway, is a walled market town, community and the administrative centre of Conwy County Borough in North Wales. The walled town and castle stand on the west bank of the River Conwy, facing Deganwy on the east bank. The town formerly lay in Gwynedd and prior to that in Caernarfonshire. The community, which also includes Deganwy and Llandudno Junction, had a population of 14,753 at the 2011 census. Postal addresses do not follow the community boundaries. On the east bank of the river, Deganwy forms part of the Conwy post town, but Llandudno Junction is a separate post town. The ward on the west bank of the river had a population of 4,065 at the 2011 census. The resident population of the wider Conwy County Borough was estimated to be 116,200 in an ONS-estimate. Conwy County Borough () is a Principal areas of Wales, county borough in the north Wales, north of Wales. It borders Gwynedd to the west and south and Denbighshire to the east. A community () is a division of land that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England but, unlike English parishes, communities cover the whole of Wales. Bro Garmon
Bro Garmon is a community in Conwy County Borough, in Wales. It is located on the eastern side of the Conwy Valley, stretching from north east of Llanrwst to just west of Pentrefoelas, and includes the villages of Capel Garmon, Glan Conwy, Melin-y-Coed, Nebo, Oaklands, Rhydlanfair and Pentre-tafarn-y-fedw. Moel Seisiog, on the eastern boundary, rises to a height of . The main settlement, Capel Garmon, lies east of Betws-y-Coed, north west of Pentrefoelas, south of Llanrwst and south of Conwy. At the 2001 census the community had a population of 648, increasing slightly at the 2011 census to 652. Saint Garmon's church, in Capel Garmon, was consecrated in 1862, but is no longer in use. Bro Machno
Bro Machno is a community in Conwy County Borough, in Wales, formed from the former civil parish of Penmachno. It covers the Penmachno Valley, through which runs the Afon Machno, and includes the villages of Penmachno and Cwm Penmachno. To the south west borders Gwynedd, and is located south of Betws-y-Coed, north west of Corwen, and south of Conwy. The whole of the community is within the Snowdonia national park, while much of it forms part of Gwydir Forest. According to the 2011 census, the population of the Bro Machno Parish was 617, of whom 342 (55%) were able to speak Welsh and 214 (34%) had no skills in Welsh. Tŷ Mawr, a 16th-century farmhouse now owned by the National Trust, was the birthplace of William Morgan, who in 1588 first translated the whole Bible into Welsh. The building is Grade II* listed. Ysbyty Ifan
Ysbyty Ifan (formerly anglicised as ''Yspytty Ifan'') is a small, historic village and community (Wales), community in the Conwy County Borough of Wales. The population in 2011 was 196 in 76 households (29 household spaces had no usual residents); over 79% of the population were able to speak Welsh language, Welsh. The 2017 Conwy County Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2017 to elect members of Conwy County Borough Council in Wales. It was on the same day as other 2017 Welsh local elections.
