The Dhaka Metro Rail () is a rapid transit, mass rapid transit system serving Dhaka (currently from Uttara North to Motijheel), the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is operated by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Together with the under construction Dhaka BRT, proposed Dhaka Subway and Dhaka Circular Railway, Dhaka suburban circular rail, it is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city. MRT Line 6 (Dhaka Metro)
The MRT Line 6 () is a rapid transit line of the Dhaka Metro Rail. Despite its number, it is Bangladesh's first rapid transit line and has been in service since 2022. The line is entirely elevated and currently has 16 stations operational in service between Uttara North metro station, Uttara North and Motijheel metro station, Motijheel. The line was built as a proposal of a mass rapid transit system in Dhaka by the Review Committee of the Strategic Transport Plan and the Urban Traffic Formulation Study. Its construction started in 2016 but was delayed several times as a result of disagreements about the route, the July 2016 Dhaka attack, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dhaka Metro Rail is a mass rapid transit system serving Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is owned and operated by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited. Together with a proposed subway system it is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city. It is part of the Strategic Transport Plan outlined by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority. The network is planned to contain six lines, with the first section of MRT Line 6 commencing commercial operations on 29 December 2022, and the other lines being either in planning or under construction.
