State Route 241 is a state highway completely within Utah County in northern Utah, in the cities of Orem and Lindon. The route connects SR-114 (Geneva Road) to US-89 (State Street) via an interchange at I-15. Route description The route begins at an intersection with SR-114 (Geneva Road) on the boundary of Orem and Lindon and heads due east on 1600 North. After coming to a diamond interchange with I-15 after only , the route continues for approximately to its eastern terminus at US-89 (State Street). Much of the route is located on the Lindon-Orem municipal boundary; as such, though it is primarily referred to as 1600 North, it is also 600 South in the Lindon grid system. Lindon, Utah
Lindon is a city in Utah County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Provo– Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 10,070 at the 2010 census. In July 2019 it was estimated to be to 11,100 by the US Census Bureau. History Originally settled in 1861, Lindon began as pioneers moved into what was then the Lindon grazing land. The town was originally named "String Town" because of the way the houses were strung up and down the street between the towns of Orem and Pleasant Grove. State Route 114 (SR-114) is a state highway in the US state of Utah that spans in Utah County. The route forms a loop around US-89 and roughly parallels the coast of Utah Lake as it passes through the west side of Provo, Lindon and Orem, eventually terminating in Pleasant Grove. The highway consists of a portion of Center Street and all of Geneva Road. The highway was formed in 1931, the southern terminus initially extending into the east side of Provo. In 1965, the route was truncated to its present state. U.S. Route 89 (US 89) in the U.S. state of Utah is a north-south United States Highway spanning more than through the central part of the state, making it the longest road in Utah. Between Provo and Brigham City, US-89 serves as a local road, paralleling (and occasionally concurring with) Interstate 15, but the portions from Arizona north to Provo and Brigham City northeast to Wyoming serve separate corridors. A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge. Approaching the interchange from either direction, an off-ramp diverges only slightly from the freeway and runs directly across the minor road, becoming an on-ramp that returns to the freeway in similar fashion. The two places where the ramps meet the road are treated as conventional intersections. Geneva Steel
Geneva Steel was a steel mill located in Vineyard, Utah, United States, founded during World War II to enhance national steel output. It operated from December 1944 to November 2001. Its unique name came from a resort that once operated nearby on the shore of Utah Lake. The steel mill was used in a dance scene in the 1984 film '' Footloose'' with Kevin Bacon.
