Usha () was a city in the Western part of Galilee. The Arab village of Hawsha later occupied the ruins of the old site. The modern kibbutz of Usha, Israel is located nearby to the ruins. Usha Mehta (25 March 1920 – 11 August 2000) was a Gandhian and freedom fighter of India. She is also remembered for organizing the Congress Radio, also called the ''Secret Congress Radio'', an underground radio station, which functioned for few months during the Quit India Movement of 1942. In 1998, the Government of India conferred on her Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of Republic of India. Early life Usha Mehta was born in Saras village near Surat in Gujarat. Usha (Sanskrit: उषा, IAST: Uṣā) is a character in Hindu mythology. She is the daughter of the asura king Banasura and the wife of Aniruddha, the grandson of Krishna. Her story of falling in love with Aniruddha and wedding him is described in the Bhagavata Purana. Legend One day, Usha saw a young man in her dream, made love to him, and fell in love with him. The play was written in 1901 by Vedam Venkataraya Sastry. Plot Banasura, the king of demons undertakes a severe penance to solicit the blessings of Lord Shiva. Usha ( he, אוּשָׁה) is a kibbutz in the western Galilee area of Israel. Located near the city of Kiryat Atta, it falls under the jurisdiction of Zevulun Regional Council. In it had a population of . Usha Menon is Professor of Gynaecological Cancer at University College London, described as "one of Britain’s foremost specialists in gynaecological cancer". She has been a lead investigator on UK ovarian cancer screening trials and on studies of ovarian cancer symptoms notably the UK Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS), which forms the evidence base for current ovarian cancer screening guidelines. UKCTOCS involved over 200,000 participants and 650,000 yearly screenings over a period of fourteen years with mortality as the endpoint.
