Us Moderates
Us Moderates (, NM) is a centrist political party in Italy, led by Maurizio Lupi. The party has had several associated members and regional partners. At the European level, it is a member of the European People's Party. Most of NM's members and elected officials are former members of Forza Italia. History Us Moderates was launched as an electoral joint list within the centre-right coalition in the 2022 Italian general election, which obtained 0.9% of the vote, seven deputies and two senators. NM was originally composed of four founding members: Us with Italy (NcI), Italy in the Centre (IaC), the Union of the Centre (UdC) and Coraggio Italia (CI). Maurizio Lupi
Maurizio Enzo Lupi (born 3 October 1959) is an Italian politician. He served as minister of infrastructure and transport between 28 April 2013 and 20 March 2015. Early life and education Lupi was born in Milan, Italy, on 3 October 1959. He has a degree in political science at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Career Lupi served as a member of the municipal council of Milan from 1993 to 1997 and until 1996 he was vice president of the council. He has been a member of the Italian parliament since the XIV legislative period or 2001. He served as deputy house speaker until 28 April 2013 when he was appointed minister of infrastructure and transport in the Letta cabinet. He replaced Corrado Passera in the post. Us with Italy (, NcI) was a Liberal conservatism, liberal conservative and Christian democracy, Christian-democratic political party in Italy. NcI started as a federation of minor centre-right parties and, as such, was part of the Centre-right coalition (Italy), centre-right coalition in the 2018 Italian general election, 2018 general election. Along with Forza Italia (2013), Forza Italia, NcI represented the coalition's "Centrism, centrist" wing and supported Silvio Berlusconi or another "centrist" candidate as Prime Minister. Mariastella Gelmini (born 1 July 1973) is an Italian politician and attorney (specialised in administrative law). She served as Italian Minister of Education in the Berlusconi IV Cabinet until 16 November 2011. She served as minister of Regional Affairs and Autonomies in the Draghi Cabinet from 2021 to 2022. Lega (), whose official name is Lega per Salvini Premier (, LSP or LpSP), is a Right-wing populism, right-wing populist political party in Italy, led by Matteo Salvini. The LSP is the informal successor of Lega Nord (, LN). The LSP was established in December 2017 as the sister party of the LN, active in northern Italy, and as the replacement of Us with Salvini (NcS), LN's previous affiliate in Central Italy, central and southern Italy. Lorenzo Cesa (born 16 August 1951) is an Italian politician and the current Secretary of the Union of the Centre. Biography Cesa graduated in Political Science from the LUISS University in Rome. He was manager of important companies and banks, including ANAS. The centre-left coalition () is a political alliance of political parties in Italy active under several forms and names since 1995, when The Olive Tree was formed under the leadership of Romano Prodi.
