Urban decay (also known as urban rot, urban death or urban blight) is the sociological process by which a previously functioning city, or part of a city, falls into disrepair and decrepitude. Abandoned Pets
Abandoned pets are companion animals that are either inadvertently or deliberately abandoned by their owners, by either dumping the animals on the streets, leaving them alone in a vacant property, or relinquishing them at an animal shelter. Exurb
An exurb (or alternately: exurban area) is an area outside the typically denser inner suburbs, suburban area, at the edge of a metropolitan area, which has some economic and commuting connection to the metro area, low housing-density, and relatively high population-growth. It shapes an interface between urban area, urban and rural area, rural landscapes, holding a limited urban nature for its functional, economic, and social interaction with the city centre, urban center, due to its dominant residential character. Suburbs

Urban Prairie
Urban prairie (or urban grassland) is vacant urban land that has reverted to urban open space, green space. The definition can vary across countries and disciplines, but at its broadest encompasses meadows, lawns, and gardens, as well as public and private parks, vacant land, remnants of rural landscapes, and areas along transportation corridors. Greyfield Land
In the United States, greyfield land (or grayfield) is a formerly-viable retail and commercial shopping site (such as regional malls and strip centers) that has suffered from lack of reinvestment and been superseded by other shopping sites elsewhere. These particular greyfield sites are also referred to as " dead malls" or "ghostboxes" if the anchor or other major tenants have vacated the premises leaving behind empty shells.
