Upmala Parish
Upmala Parish is an Administrative divisions of Latvia, administrative unit of Preiļi Municipality in the Latgale region of Latvia. From 2009 until 2021, it was part of the former Vārkava Municipality History Upmalas village council, village was formed in 1975 from the liquidated part of Stradiņi village and Vārkava village. In 1977 part of Upmala village was added to Rožkalnu village. In 1979, part of the Rauniešu village area was added to Upmalas village. The village was reorganized into a parish in 1990. In 2002, Upmala Parish merged with Rožkalni Parish, Rožkalnu Parish to form Vārkava Municipality. References

Administrative Divisions Of Latvia
The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021. On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (, ''novads'') and seven state cities (''valstspilsētas, valstspilsēta''). The municipalities are also further divided into 71 cities/towns (''pilsētas'', '' pilsēta'') and 512 parishes (''pagasti, pagasts''). On 1 June 2021, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the annexation of Varakļāni Municipality to Rēzekne Municipality was unconstitutional. In response, the Saeima decided to preserve the existence of Varakļāni Municipality as a 43rd local government unit until 2025. Preiļi Municipality
Preiļi Municipality () is a municipality in Latgale, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2000 by merging Aizkalne Parish, Preiļi Parish and Preiļi town. In 2009 it absorbed Pelēči Parish and Sauna Parish, too the administrative centre being Preiļi. The population in 2020 was 9,054. On 1 July 2021, Preiļi Municipality was enlarged when Riebiņi Municipality, Vārkava Municipality and Aglona Parish were merged into it. Latgale (; ; ; ; ; ; Belarusian Latin alphabet, Belarusian Latin: ''Łathalija''; ), also known as Latgalia or Latgallia, is one of the Historical Latvian Lands. It is the easternmost region of the country and lies north of the Daugava River. Vārkava Municipality () is a former municipality in Latgale, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2002 by merging Rožkalni Parish and Upmala Parish. In 2009, it absorbed Vārkava Parish, also with the administrative centre being Vecvārkava. The population in 2020 was 1,793.
