Uphall F.C. (1892)
Uphall Football Club was a football club from Uphall in West Lothian. History The club was formed on 12 September 1892 at a meeting in the Uphall Inn and almost immediately accepted into the East of Scotland Football Association. This allowed the club to enter the three main tournaments for clubs in the area - the East of Scotland Shield, the King Cup, and the Linlithgowshire Cup. Indeed, the first round of the Linlithgowshire had already taken place, and the club was allowed to enter the competition in the second round, to play the similarly late entrant Bathgate Athletic. Uphall's 5–3 win put the club into the semi-final, but it lost 3–2 at home to Broxburn, the winner coming in the last minute. Uphall lost in the first round of the Shield, but did get to the semi-final of the Consolation Cup; drawn to visit Bathgate Rovers, Uphall took a half-time lead with the conditions in its favour, but lost the match 4–1. This was a Scottish non-league football (soccer) competition that ran at various times between 1891 and 1946. Eastern Alliance 1891–92 The Eastern Football Alliance was formed in 1891–92 by predominantly six Linlithgowshire clubs; Mossend Swifts, Armadale, Bathgate Rovers, Bo'ness, Broxburn, and Leith Hibernian (a club related to the original Hibernian). Kircaldy were later admitted to the league, but withdrew during the season and their results expunged. Leith Hibernian were dissolved before the tournament started, and were replaced by Adventurers. The league remained unfinished and was wound before the season finished. East of Scotland League 1893–94 The first East of Scotland Football League was formed in 1893–94 by six West Lothian clubs. Uphall ( sco, Uphauch, gd, Ubhalaidh) is a village in West Lothian, Scotland. It is a swiftly growing village in a conurbation with Broxburn to the east, Dechmont to the west and the major town of Livingston to the south west. Bathgate ( sco, Bathket or , gd, Both Chèit) is a town in West Lothian, Scotland, west of Livingston and adjacent to the M8 motorway. Nearby towns are Armadale, Blackburn, Linlithgow, Livingston, West Calder and Whitburn.
