Upasna Mohapatra
Upasna Mohapatra (born 1997) is a politician from Odisha in India representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. She entered politics following the death of her father, Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, a former MLA of the Brahmagiri Assembly constituency. In the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election, she was elected as the MLA from the Brahmagiri constituency and became the youngest MLA in Odisha assembly. Biography Hailing from Brahmagiri, Odisha, Mohapatra is the great granddaughter of Bakshi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar who pioneered the Paika rebellion in East India which happens to be the very first rebellion against the British empire (1817), much before the Sepoy mutiny (1857). Paika Rebellion
The Paika Rebellion, also known as the Paika Bidroha or Paik Rebellion. It was an early armed rebellion against Company rule in India in 1817. The Paikas rose in rebellion under their leader Bakshi Jagabandhu and projecting Jagannath, Lord Jagannath as the symbol of Odia people, Odia unity, the rebellion quickly spread across most of Odisha before being put down by the Presidency armies, Company's forces. The Orissa High Court is the High Courts of India, High Court for the Indian States and union territories of India, state of Odisha. The then Bengal Presidency was a vast province including present day Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Dharmendra Pradhan (born 26 June 1969) is an Indian politician who has served as the Minister of Education since his appointment in July 2021. He has previously held the portfolios of Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (2017–2021), Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas (2014–2021), and Minister of Steel (2019–2021). He graduated from the Talcher Autonomous College and Utkal University. He has been serving as a Cabinet Minister since 3 September 2017. Bakshi Jagabandhu
Jagabandhu Bidyadhara Mohapatra Bhramarbara Raya popularly known as Buxi Jagabandhu () or ''Paika Khandayat Buxi'' was the commander (Buxi) of the forces of the king of Khurda. He is one of the earliest freedom fighters of India. The great Paika rebellion in 1817 was under his leadership. The BJB College in Bhubaneswar has been named after this great personality. 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in the eastern coastal state of Odisha from 2024 elections in India, 13 May to 1 June 2024 to elect the List of constituencies of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, 147 members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
