Up New Generation
''Up New Generation'' is a new version of the '' Up Series'', following the lives of a group of individuals who were seven years old at the turn of the millennium. The series is directed by Julian Farino and began with ''7Up 2000'', first broadcast in April 2000. The second instalment, ''14 Up 2000'', aired in two parts on BBC One in September 2007. ''21 Up New Generation'' was broadcast in September 2014 in two parts, while ''28 Up'' was broadcast on BBC One from 29 September 2021 with the new subtitle ''Millennium Generation''. Also in 2021, the five previous programmes were added to the BBC iPlayer for viewers of the new episodes to watch. Julian Farino
Julian Farino (born 12 December 1965) is an English film and television producer and director. He was the sports editor of ''The Guinness Book of Records'' and directed much of the first three seasons of the HBO series '' Entourage''. Farino was born and raised in London and educated at Cambridge University. He began directing film documentaries at Granada Television in England, making a sequence of observational films about drag queens, young classical musicians, children's entertainers and boxers. ''They Call Us Nutters'' was a portrait of life on a ward of Ashworth Maximum Security Hospital, and ''A Winter's Tale'' described life in the coldest inhabited place on earth, Oymyakon in Eastern Siberia. Up Series
The ''Up'' series of documentary films follows the lives of ten males and four females in England beginning in 1964, when they were seven years old. The first film was titled ''Seven Up!'', with later films adjusting the number in the title to match the age of the subjects at the time of filming. The documentary has had nine episodes—one every seven years—thus spanning 56 years. The series has been produced by Granada Television for ITV, which has broadcast all of them except ''42 Up'' (1998), which was broadcast on BBC One.
