''Up (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'' is the film score to the Up (2009 film), 2009 Disney-Pixar film of the same name composed and arranged by Michael Giacchino. This is his third feature film for Pixar after ''The Incredibles (film score), The Incredibles'' and ''Ratatouille (soundtrack), Ratatouille''. Giacchino wrote a character theme-based score that the filmmakers felt enhanced the story of the film. ''Up'' received positive reviews from music critics and won major awards. Despite being well regarded, ''Up'' was not released as a compact disc (CD) until 2011, when it became available via Intrada Records. The score album was nominated to multiple awards. Michael Giacchino ( , ; born October 10, 1967) is an American film, television, and video game score composer. He has received many accolades for his work, including an Academy Award for ''Up (2009 film), Up'' (2009), an Emmy Award, Emmy for Lost (2004 TV series), ''Lost'' (2004), and three Grammy Awards. 52nd Annual Grammy Awards
The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards took place on January 31, 2010, at Staples Center in Los Angeles honoring the best in music for the recording year beginning October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2009. Neil Young was honored as the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year on January 29, two days prior to the Grammy telecast. Nominations announced on December 2, 2009. The show was moved to January to avoid competing against the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Only ten of the 109 awards were received during the broadcast. The remaining 99 awards were given during the un-televised portion of the ceremony which preceded the broadcast. Beyoncé, who also received the most nominations, with ten, won a total of six awards breaking the record for most wins by a female artist in one night. ''Empire'' is a British film magazine published monthly by Bauer Media Group. The first issue was published in May 1989. History David Hepworth of Emap, the publisher of British music magazines '' Q'' and '' Smash Hits'', proposed the idea of launching a film magazine similar to ''Q''. They recruited ''Smash Hits'' editor Barry McIlheney to edit the new magazine, with Hepworth as Editorial Director. Hepworth drafted a one-page proposal outlining the magazine's objectives, including a commitment to reviewing and rating every film released in UK cinema. Thematic Transformation
Thematic transformation (also known as thematic metamorphosis or thematic development) is a musical technique in which a leitmotif, or theme, is developed by changing the theme by using permutation ( transposition or modulation, inversion, and retrograde), augmentation, diminution, and fragmentation. It was primarily developed by Franz Liszt and Hector Berlioz. The technique is essentially one of variation. A basic theme is reprised throughout a musical work, but it undergoes constant transformations and disguises and is made to appear in several contrasting roles. However, the transformations of this theme will always serve the purpose of "unity within variety" that was the architectural role of sonata form in the classical symphony.
