Demet Akalın (born 23 April 1972) is a Turkish singer and former model. Due to the popular songs she has released since the middle of the 2000s, she has become one of the most recognizable names of Turkish pop music. Akalın, who was born in Gölcük, Kocaeli, initially decided to pursue a career in modeling and started working as a model for Neşe Erberk's agency. She also acted in a number of motion picture films and television series in the 1990s. Simultaneously with modeling, she started singing in the casinos, and released her first studio album, ''Sebebim'' in 1996 which was not successful. With the release of the album ''Banane'' in 2004, she became well-known in Turkey. The album's lead single, "Aşkın Açamadığı Kapı", earned Akalın a Turkey Music Award for the Song of the Year. ''Banane'' (''I Don't Care'') is the third studio album by Turkish singer Demet Akalın. It was released on 12 December 2004. Suat Aydoğan served as the album's music director. The songs were arranged by Ersay Üner, Erdem Kınay and Lütfü Bayülgen. The album sold 40,000 copies in 19 days. Fantezi is a Turkish music genre composed in Turkish language in accordance with the tradition of the Turkish people. Also called folk song or urban folk music, in its plural form is a Turkish music genre which has taken many forms over the years. Fantezi followed after the commercialization of Turkish classical music and Kanto music. It was strong dominated by Turkish folk music. Selami Sahin (born 1948) is a Turkish musician, singer, and songwriter. Life and career Şahin's works have been performed in different languages by artists from European and Middle Eastern countries. He was born to a mother of Egyptian Arab descent settled in Hatay and a Turkish father. He knows not only Turkish but also Arabic as mother tongues.
