Université Libanaise
The Lebanese University (LU; ) is the only state-funded public university in Lebanon. It was established in 1951. The university's main campus was originally located in Beirut, but a few satellite campuses were opened due to travel restrictions during the Lebanese Civil War. It has three main campuses: Rafic Hariri Campus, Fanar Campus and North Campus. The Roumieh campus, which features a faculty of engineering, is one of the satellite campuses. The university currently enrolls thousands of students and is organized into 16 faculties. It offers a range of degree programs, include undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The primary language of instruction is Arabic. A public university, state university, or public college is a university or college that is State ownership, owned by the state or receives significant funding from a government. Antoine Ghanem
Antoine Ghanem (; 10 August 1943 – 19 September 2007) was a Lebanese politician and an Member of Parliament, MP in the Lebanese Parliament. He was also a member of the Kataeb party and the March 14 Coalition. He was murdered on 19 September 2007 in a car bomb explosion in the Sin el Fil suburb of Beirut. He was the eighth anti-Syrian figure assassinated since Assassination of Rafic Hariri, the assassination of Rafik Hariri on 14 February 2005. Early life and education Ghanem was born in the Tohwita suburb of Beirut on 10 August 1943. He attended the Collège Notre Dame in Furn el Chebek and the Collège du Sacré-Cœur in Gemmayzeh, both private Catholic schools. Jawad Fares
Jawad Youssef Fares (; born 1991 in Madrid, Spain) is a Lebanese physician-scientist. He was selected for the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in science and healthcare for his contribution to solving healthcare problems in the developing world. He also featured twice in the Forbes Middle East 30 Under 30, and was selected as one of the top 10 young scientists in the world by ''Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News''. Elissar Zakaria Khoury (; born 27 October 1971), commonly known as Elissa (), is a Lebanese people, Lebanese singer, actress, television personality and businesswoman. Known for her romantic musical style and emotive vocal performances, she has been dubbed as the "Queen of Emotions" by fans and journalists alike. Her musical career began in 1992 when she was featured in the Lebanese talent show Studio El Fan; later being awarded the silver medal. Houssam Diab is Lebanese lawyer and diplomat currently serving as Lebanon Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nabih Berri
Nabih Mustafa Berri ( ; born 28 January 1938) is a Lebanese politician who has been serving as Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon since 1992. Doumouh Al Bakkar
Doumouh Ibrahim Al Bakkar (; born 7 April 1990) is a Lebanese football referee who officiates primarily in the Lebanese Women's Football League. Starting out as a player and coach, Al Bakkar became a referee in 2014. In addition to women's matches, she has also officiated men's matches domestically, at both senior and youth level.
