In the United States, Universal Licensing System (ULS) is the FCC online search portal for wireless licensing and research. It mainly supports online licensing and public access to its database. The FCC is an independent agency of the U.S. government appointed with the duty of allocating permission to businesses and individuals, the domestic (non-federal) use of wireless technologies. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that regulates communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable across the United States. The FCC maintains jurisdiction over the areas of broadband access, fair competition, radio frequency use, media responsibility, public safety, and homeland security. The FCC was formed by the Communications Act of 1934 to replace the radio regulation functions of the Federal Radio Commission. The FCC took over wire communication regulation from the Interstate Commerce Commission. Antenna Structure Registration In The United States
U.S. Antenna Structure Registration rules are contained in Part 17 of Federal Communications Commission Rules (47 C.F.R. 17). The purpose of these rules is to regulate via the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the FCC antenna structures in the US that are taller than 60.96 meters (200 feet) above ground level or that may interfere with the flight path of a nearby airport. In a Report and Order released November 30, 1995, the Commission adopted rules designed to streamline the registration process and began requiring antenna structure owners (instead of licensees) to register these structures with the Commission. In a Memorandum of Opinion and Order on Reconsideration released March 8, 2000, the Commission clarified several registration requirements. All registrations are filed via FCC Form 854. Geographic Information System
A geographic information system (GIS) is a type of database containing geographic data (that is, descriptions of phenomena for which location is relevant), combined with software tools for managing, analyzing, and visualizing those data.
