Unity College Northampton
Unity College was a mixed 11-16 school in Northampton. It was Northampton's first Church of England College. It had replaced the old school, Trinity High School, which was opened in 1932. The decision was called when the builders found the tower unsafe to redevelop, and the call was made to rebuild the school, which was built in 2004, and all the buildings were completed in 2008. On 20 February 2008, the college held a whole school assembly to mark the date of completion, and a plaque was added into the new visitor entrance block. The school was placed under special measures by Ofsted to be finally closed in 2010. The campus and buildings were taken over by a new school, the Malcolm Arnold Academy, which officially opened on 3 September 2010. Unity College is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school in Burnley, Lancashire, England. History Former school Towneley High School originally opened in 1941. During its history it had been a technical school, an all-boys school, and latterly a mixed 11-16 community school. It was the first Lancashire school to be awarded by Investors in People. Early history The college initially occupied the former Towneley High School, but moved to a state of the art new £33m building in September 2010 as part of the Building Schools for the Future programme. The school was named by a local pupil, Heather Ashworth, who won a competition launched by the local radio station 2BR. The new school's first head teacher, Sally Cryer, had previously been head at Towneley. The school is located in Towneley Park, and the county council's decision to site the new building, on playing-fields close to the old school, rather than reusing the existing site, was contentious. Unity College is a coeducational ecumenical college located in the Bellvista Estate in Caloundra West, a suburb of the Sunshine Coast Region in Queensland, Australia. The college is administered by Brisbane Catholic Education, working in partnership with the Caloundra Catholic and Uniting Churches. Unity College has a total enrolment of more than 1400 students from Prep to Year 12, with an official count of 1422 students in 2017. Most students who attend Unity College are from the local Caloundra area, whereas others are from the Beerwah, Mooloolah Valley and Glenview areas. Approximately 50% of the school's students identify as Catholic and 16% are of the Uniting tradition, whereas the remaining 34% are of other faith backgrounds. Unity Environmental University (formerly Unity College) is a private university in New Gloucester, Maine, United States. It offers in-person and online Associate degree, associate, Bachelor's degree, baccalaureate, and master's degree programs on sustainability and environmental science. Unity is Higher education accreditation in the United States, accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education and is Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, classified among "M3: Master’s Colleges and Universities – Small programs". Initially founded as a residential institute in Unity, Maine, the university expanded into online education in 2016 which grew both its enrollment and number of academic programs.
