Unity (Hungary)
Unity (), also called Left Unity () was the informal name of a short-lived centre-left political alliance in Hungary of five political party, political parties formed for contesting the 2014 Hungarian parliamentary election. The parties involved were the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP), Together 2014 (E14), Democratic Coalition (Hungary), Democratic Coalition (DK), Dialogue for Hungary (PM) and Hungarian Liberal Party (MLP). It was dissolved in aftermath of the alliance's poor results. Attila Mesterházy
Attila Mesterházy (born 30 January 1974) is a Hungarian politician, who served as the seventh chairman of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) from 10 July 2010 to 29 May 2014. He was a Member of Parliament between 2004 and 2022. He was the party's candidate for the position of Prime Minister of Hungary in the 2010 Hungarian parliamentary election, 2010 and 2014 Hungarian parliamentary election, 2014 parliamentary elections. Studies Mesterházy was born in 1974 in Pécs, Hungary. In the years 1988–1992 he attended secondary school (Lovassy László Gimnázium) in Veszprém. In 1992–1997 he studied economics at the Corvinus University in Budapest, obtaining a diploma in 1997. Together 2014
Together (, ), officially Together – Party for a New Era (), formerly also known as Together 2014 (), was a Social liberalism, social-liberal List of political parties in Hungary, political party in Hungary formed on 26 October 2012 for the 2014 Hungarian parliamentary election by Gordon Bajnai, the former Prime Minister of Hungary, to contest Viktor Orbán's government. Together was founded as a coalition of left-wing and liberal political movements and civil organizations that transformed itself into a party in March 2013. Gábor Fodor (politician)
Gábor Fodor (born 27 September 1962) is a Hungarian jurist, former liberal politician and a delegate to the Hungarian Round Table Talks. He was member of the Hungarian parliament from 1990 to 2019. Later he was the representative of the Hungarian parliament in the Council of Europe between 1991 and 1993. From 1994 to 1996 he was the Minister of Education in Hungary. Furthermore, he was the Minister of Environment and Water between 2008 and 2009. He is also a former president of the Alliance of Free Democrats (SZDSZ) in 2008–09 and for the Liberals in 2013–19 as well. Ferenc Gyurcsány (; born 4 June 1961) is a Hungarian entrepreneur and retired politician who served as Prime Minister of Hungary from 2004 to 2009. Prior to that, he held the position of Government of Hungary, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports between 2003 and 2004. He was nominated as prime minister by the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) on 25 August 2004, after Péter Medgyessy resigned due to a conflict with the Socialist Party's coalition partner. Benedek Jávor (born 2 July 1972) is a Hungarian politician and a former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2014 to 2019. He is a member of Dialogue for Hungary, part of the European Green Party. Biography He finished his secondary studies at the Benedictine High School of Pannonhalma. He graduated in biology at the Faculty of Science of the Eötvös Loránd University in 1997 (MSc), and in 2006 he received his Ph.D. at the same university. He has been assistant professor at the department of environmental law at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University. György Gordon Bajnai (; born 5 March 1968) is a Hungarian entrepreneur and economist, who served as the Prime Minister of Hungary from 2009 to 2010. Hungarian Liberal Party (, , shortened form Liberals () or MLP) is a liberal political party in Hungary. The party was founded on 27 April 2013, founded by former Alliance of Free Democrats politician and minister Gábor Fodor. As part of opposition electoral alliances, MLP gained each one seat in 2014 and 2018 parliamentary elections. The party has been inactive following the 2022 parliamentary election.
