United Bus
United Bus was a European bus and coach manufacturing group created by the merger of Dutch manufacturers DAF Bus and Bova in November 1989. The merger was made in response to a joint review of the future European bus and coach industry. DAF took a majority stake in this merger, while Bova remained as an operating subsidiary, with plans for further expansion across Europe at the offset. All United Bus companies retained their identities while part of the group. United Bus' first acquisition came in May 1990, with British bus body builder Optare being acquired for around £5 million (). Optare had previously collaborated with DAF by being licensed to build its Delta body on the DAF SB220 chassis. The collaboration between DAF and Optare led to the introduction of the Optare Spectra double-decker bus on the DAF DB250 chassis in 1992, designed as a successor to the MCW Metrobus. The Scania OmniCity is an integrally constructed Transverse engine, vertically-engined Low-floor bus, low floor city bus that was available from Scania AB, Scania on the European market between 1996 (across Europe)/1997 and 2012. The OmniCity was introduced in September 1996 as the first product based on the Scania 4-series (bus), 4-series bus range. The first prototypes were built in the former Danish Automobile Building, DAB plant in Silkeborg, Denmark, and serial production continued there in 1997, joined by Scania's plant in Katrineholm, Sweden. Scania OmniLink
The Scania OmniLink is a series of integrally constructed rear longitudinal-engined low-entry city buses available on the European market. It is a complete integral product built by Scania of Sweden. The OmniLink was launched in 1998 with an inclined engine and was designated CL94UB, and an articulated version was designated CL94UA. But when the Euro IV version was introduced in 2006, the engine was no longer tilted and the designation changed to CK230UB/CK270UB/CK310UB/CK320UB for the rigid version. The OmniLink's floor raises at the rear section when compared to the flat-floored OmniCity. Production of the OmniLink ceased in 2013. Midibus
A midibus is a classification of single-decker minibuses which are generally larger than a traditional minibus but smaller than a full-size single decker and can be anywhere between and long. While used in many parts of the world, the midibus is perhaps most common in the United Kingdom, where operators have found them more economical, and to have a sufficient number of seats compared to full size single-decker buses. Midibuses are often designed to be lightweight to save on diesel fuel (e.g. smaller wheels than on larger buses), making them not as durable as heavier 'full size' buses. Optare Solo
The Switch Solo (formerly sold as the Optare Solo) is a low-floor minibus/midibus with one or two doors manufactured by Switch Mobility in the United Kingdom since 1998. The Solo name is a play on its low-floor status, the manufacturer marketing its vehicle as having an entrance that is "so low" from the floor, namely with kneeling suspension. In January 2012, Optare announced the end of production for the original Solo design with a modified Solo SR taking over.
