Union Of UEA Students
The University of East Anglia Students' Union is the students' union of the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom. All students of the university and some INTO UEA students automatically become members of the Union, but do have the right to opt out of membership. Membership confers the ability to take part in the Union's activities such as Clubs and Societies, and being involved in the democratic processes of the Union. The Union is a democratic organisation run by its members via an elected student officer committee and student council. It is affiliated to the National Union of Students. The University of East Anglia (UEA) is a public research university in Norwich, England. Established in 1963 on a campus west of the city centre, the university has four faculties and 26 schools of study. BUCS
British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the governing body for higher education sport in the United Kingdom. BUCS was formed in June 2008 following a merger of British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) and University College Sport (UCS) organisations. BUCS is responsible for organising more than 52 inter-university sports within the UK and representative teams for the World University Championships and the World University Games. ''Spiked'' (also written as ''sp!ked'') is a British Internet magazine focusing on politics, culture and society. The magazine was founded in 2001 with the same editor and many of the same contributors as ''Living Marxism'', which had closed in 2000 after losing a case for libel brought by ITN. There is general agreement that ''Spiked'' is libertarian, with the majority of specialist academic sources identifying it as right-libertarian, and some non-specialist sources identifying it as left-libertarian. The Waterfront, Norwich
The Waterfront is a live music venue and nightclub in King Street, Norwich, Norfolk. It is located on the bank of the River Wensum, opposite Norwich Riverside. It has been managed by the Union of UEA Students since 1993. It is not, however, a student club, and entrance is open to the public. The building comprises two floors. The ground floor contains a 700 capacity main room with integral bar, dressing rooms and toilets. The first floor features a 200 capacity room, a café bar and an open plan office. There is a wide range of live music throughout the year. ''Concrete'' is the University of East Anglia's student newspaper. ''Concrete'' is free and published fortnightly on a Tuesday, during term time. ''Concrete'' is compiled by a team of around thirty editorial team members and headed by the Editor-in-Chief and their Deputies. It is distributed throughout campus fortnightly as a free pickup newspaper and online via their website. ''Concrete'' is part of the UEA Media Collective, which also includes the student radio station Livewire and UEA:TV. ''Concrete's'' logo was redesigned in the 2019/20 year to include its new motto, "Striving for Truth". Livewire (radio)
Livewire 1350 (more commonly referred to as simply Livewire) is a student radio station run by students of the University of East Anglia in Norwich, Norfolk. The station is part of the UEA Media Collective, which consists of Concrete (student newspaper) and UEA:TV. History Livewire began broadcasting in 1990, making it one of the longest-running student radio stations in the UK. It was launched by John Peel. In 2016, the station was rebranded with a new logo and website. University Of East Anglia Boat Club
The University of East Anglia Boat Club (UEABC) is the rowing club of the University of East Anglia in the UK. It currently has 60 members and rows year round from September to July. Location & facilities The boat club rows on the Yare River in Norwich, with the boathouse centred from the University. The boat club benefits from 15 km of rowable river with room for the club's eights including a 2 km straight. Smaller boats can access a longer stretch of the river and it is possible to row all the way to the east coast. The club has its main base on Whitlingham Lane, where is shares facilities with the local rowing and canoeing clubs, Norwich School and Norwich High School. In 2010 a new boathouse began construction for approximately £1,000,000.
