Unicorn (English Band)
Unicorn were an English country rock band, notable for their association with David Gilmour of Pink Floyd from 1973. History 1963–1972 Although Unicorn didn't release their first album until 1971, most of the group had been playing together since 1963 under various band names, including The Senders, The Pink Bears, The Late Edition, The Late, and Late. They started as a beat group and focused on playing covers of bands like The Beatles, The Searchers and The Hollies but began writing their own material from 1967, with Ken Baker as the songwriter. In the early years they also found work backing other singers, including Sue and Sunny. After recording a number of their songs in 1967 they got a month-long residency at the Carousel Club in Copenhagen and then nine months touring as Billy J. Kramer's backing band. Send, Surrey
Send is a villages in the United Kingdom, village and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the Guildford (borough), Guildford borough of the English county of Surrey. The name is thought to mean "sandy place" and sand was extracted at various periods until the 1990s at pits in the outskirts of the parish. Send is buffer zone, buffered by Metropolitan Green Belt from other villages and towns except for the Grove Heath neighbourhood of Ripley, Surrey, Ripley. The site is an editorially independent publication that was started by the English musician and journalist John Robb in 2010 and is now co-run by a team of other journalists with a worldwide team of freelancers. Steve O'Rourke
Steve O'Rourke ( – ) was an English music manager and racing driver. He was the manager of Pink Floyd, a position he held from 1968 until his death. Among his accomplishments was negotiating Pink Floyd's split with bass player and main songwriter Roger Waters. Life and Pink Floyd manager O'Rourke's father, Tommy O'Rourke, was a fisherman on the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland. He travelled to London for the premiere of the Robert Flaherty documentary film, '' Man of Aran'', in which he appeared as a shark hunter. Tape Op
A tape operator or tape op, also known as a second engineer, is a person who performs menial operations in a recording studio in a similar manner to a tea boy or gopher. They may act as an apprentice or an assistant to a recording engineer and duties can consist of threading audio tape, setting up microphones and stands, configuring MIDI equipment and cables, and sometimes pressing the relevant transport controls on the recorder or digital audio workstation. Abbey Road Studios always assigned at least one tape op to each recording session. History and prospects The role of tape op was a useful entry into a professional recording environment, and several went on to successful careers as engineers and record producers. Camel (band)
Camel are an English progressive rock band formed in Guildford, Guildford, Surrey, in 1971. Led by guitarist Andrew Latimer, they have released fourteen studio albums and fourteen singles, plus numerous live albums and DVDs. Without achieving mass popularity, the band gained a cult following in the 1970s with albums such as ''Mirage (Camel album), Mirage'' (1974) and ''The Snow Goose (album), The Snow Goose'' (1975). Tony Rivers (born Douglas Anthony Thompson, 21 December 1940, Shildon, County Durham, England) is an English singer, best known for singing with the groups Tony Rivers and the Castaways and Harmony Grass. Additionally, Rivers sang on albums by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Roger Daltrey, Shakin' Stevens and Cliff Richard. Music career Rivers went to Raine's Foundation School in Bethnal Green. After working at Butlins' Holiday Camp in Clacton, he joined a group called 'The Cutaways' and they became 'Tony Rivers and the Castaways'. Roundhouse (venue)
The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue at the Grade II* listed former Railway roundhouse, railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England. The building was erected in 1846–1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a Railway roundhouse, roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was used for that purpose for only about a decade. After being used as a warehouse for a number of years, the building fell into disuse just before World War II. It was first made a listed building in 1954. It reopened after 25 years, in 1964, as a performing arts venue, when the playwright Arnold Wesker established the Centre 42 Theatre Company and adapted the building as a theatre. Quiver were a British rock band formed in 1970 by Tim Renwick and Cal Batchelor. In December 1972, they teamed up with the Sutherland Brothers and became known as Sutherland Brothers & Quiver, releasing soft rock music and achieving success with the songs " (I Don't Want to Love You But) You Got Me Anyway" and " Arms of Mary", a No. 5 UK hit. Stefan Grossman (born April 16, 1945) is an American acoustic fingerstyle guitarist and singer, music producer and educator, and co-founder of Kicking Mule records. He is known for his instructional videos and Vestapol line of videos and DVDs.
