Roman Von Ungern-Sternberg
Nikolai Robert Maximilian Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg (; 10 January 1886 – 15 September 1921), often referred to as Roman von Ungern-Sternberg or Baron Ungern, was an anti-communist general in the Russian Civil War and then an independent warlord who intervened in Mongolia against China. A part of the Russian Empire's Baltic German minority, Ungern was an ultraconservative monarchist who aspired to restore the Russian monarchy after the 1917 Russian Revolutions and to revive the Mongol Empire under the rule of the Bogd Khan. His attraction to Vajrayana Buddhism and his eccentric, often violent, treatment of enemies and his own men earned him the sobriquet "the Mad Baron" or "the Bloody Baron". He was viewed by his Mongolian subjects during his rule as the "God of War". Mattias Alexander Von Ungern-Sternberg
Mattias Alexander von Ungern-Sternberg (3 March 1689 – 13 January 1763) was as Swedish military officer and politician. In his youth he fought in the War of the Spanish Succession and the Great Northern War. During the Age of Liberty, he was politically engaged in the Caps (party), Caps party and was elected Lord Marshal (Sweden), Lord Marshal of the parliament, the Riksdag of the Estates, in 1742 and again in 1746. As a politician he was moderate and willing to compromise. His political activities benefitted his military career and he was promoted to List of Swedish field marshals, field marshal in 1753. In 1757, he briefly commanded Swedish troops during the Pomeranian War but was quickly relieved of command following a lacklustre performance and retired to his family estate, , where he died in 1763.
