"Unbelievers" is a song by American indie pop band Vampire Weekend. Written by the band's lead singer Ezra Koenig and multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij, and produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and Batmanglij, the song was released as the third single from their third studio album ''Modern Vampires of the City'' in August 2013. The band initially premiered "Unbelievers" in a live performance on ''Jimmy Kimmel Live'' on October 31, 2012. They also performed the song live on an episode of ''Saturday Night Live'' prior to it being released as a single. Commercial performance The song peaked at number seven on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart, becoming the band's first top ten hit on the chart, and has also peaked at number 24 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Rock Songs chart and number 158 on the UK Singles Chart. Vampire Weekend is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2006 and currently signed to Columbia Records. The band was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij, drummer Chris Tomson, and bassist Chris Baio. Batmanglij departed the group in early 2016. She is the founder, president, and chief mastering engineer of The Lodge, an audio mastering facility that has operated in New York City's Greenwich Village since 1997. Christopher William Tomson (born March 6, 1984) is an American singer, songwriter and musician, best known as the drummer for New York-based indie rock band Vampire Weekend. He is also the lead vocalist and guitarist for a side project called Dams of the West, for which he writes and records the entirety of its music. Background Tomson grew up on a farm in the Imlaystown section of Upper Freehold Township, New Jersey, and later recorded parts of Vampire Weekend's first album there. Christopher Baio (born October 29, 1984) is an American musician, best known for being the bassist for the New York City-based indie rock band Vampire Weekend. He also releases as a record producer under the mononym Baio, and his debut solo album ''The Names'' was released through Glassnote Records on 18 September 2015. Life Baio was turned on to music at an early age, purchasing his first album at the age of seven and going to his first concert, a live performance by the band Cracker, at the age of nine. Baio said that, as a child, he would go to sleep with ''Doolittle'' by Pixies playing.
