Unbelievable Truth
Unbelievable Truth are a British rock band, led by Andy Yorke, with Nigel Powell, Jason Moulster, and Jim Crosskey. Their sound has been described as "slow, melancholy, country-tinged ballads, wrapped in a soft blanket of acoustic guitars and minor chords". History The band was formed in 1993 in Oxford, England, and named after Hal Hartley's film, '' The Unbelievable Truth''. A crisis of confidence led to a split in 1995, during which time Yorke took to exile in Russia. Upon his return in 1996, the band released their first single, "Building" in February 1997 on Shifty Disco, a record label based in Oxford. They released their first album, '' Almost Here'', in 1998 on Virgin, and although being subsequently dropped by Virgin, the album had some success. In 2000, the band released their next album ''Sorrythankyou'' on Shifty Disco, the first from that label to be pressed in vinyl. Shifty Disco
Shifty Disco was a British independent record label based in Oxford, England. The record label was started by local enthusiasts in January 1997 and their early releases were often featured by John Peel on his BBC Radio 1 show. Shifty Disco has released recordings by artists such as Beulah, Mark Gardener, Unbelievable Truth, and Young Knives. One of Shifty Disco's early, defining initiatives was the Shifty Disco singles club which released a new single every month to subscribers. The Candyskins
The Candyskins were an English rock band formed in 1989 in Oxford, England. Though early members of the "Oxford Scene", they enjoyed limited commercial success compared to their contemporaries Radiohead and Supergrass. They were considered by the British music press as one of the seminal early bands of the Britpop era. The band recorded four studio albums over a period of eight years before breaking up in 1998 and reuniting in 2009. Ben Lloyd is an English musician, record producer and recording engineer based in Oxford, England. He currently plays electric guitar in Frank Turner's band, The Sleeping Souls, and is a member of the British rock band, Dive Dive. He also recorded and produced Frank Turner's first EP '' Campfire Punkrock'' (2006) and his first two albums ''Sleep Is for the Week'' (2007) and '' Love Ire & Song'' (2008). He is endorsed by Laney Amplification and Ernie Ball Strings. Dive Dive are a British rock band, composed of Jamie Stuart (guitar and vocals), Ben Lloyd (guitar and vocals), Nigel Powell (drums and vocals) and Tarrant Anderson (bass guitar). Ben Lloyd and Tarrant Anderson also play as full-time members of Frank Turner's band, The Sleeping Souls. Dive Dive formed in 2001 in Oxford, England after the breakup of the members' previous bands, Unbelievable Truth (Nigel Powell) and Dustball (Jamie Stuart and Tarrant Anderson), in 2000. Francis Edward Turner (born 28 December 1981) is an English Punk rock, punk and Folk music, folk singer-songwriter from Meonstoke, Hampshire. He began his career as the vocalist of post-hardcore band Million Dead, then embarked upon a primarily acoustic-based solo career following the band's split in 2005. A double album (or double record) is an audio album that spans two units of the primary medium in which it is sold, typically either records or compact disc. A double album is usually, though not always, released as such because the recording is longer than the capacity of the medium.
