Umundugba
Umundugba is a town in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria, and is the headquarters of Isu LGA. Location Umundugba has been in existence since the 16th century. It is made up of nine autonomous communities. Most of the inhabitants are Christians. The town shares boundaries with the Isu Njaba, Ekwe, Amaigbo, Amandugba, and Ezuisu autonomous communities. Tradition Umundugba is ruled by Umuezeala. Eze Isaiah Ugochukwu Anusionwu, Ezeahurukwe I of Amandugba was the father of Eze Onyegbuleonweya Christopher Ugochukwu, Ezeahurukwe II of Umundugba. The current traditional ruler is Eze Chukwuemeka Stephen Ugochukwu, Ezeahurukwe III of Umundugba. It is made up of two sub communities (Orori and Okwara). In Orori, are villages like Umuezeala, Okporo - Duru-aror, Okporo - Duru-njaba, and Umudike. While Okwara is made up of Umuokwara, Umuokebele, Umunwodor, Umuemeziem, and Umuokwara-oma. Isu, Nigeria
Isu is a local government area in the Imo State of Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Umundugba. Other communities are Amandugba, Ekwe, Uburu Ekwe, Isunjaba, Amurie Omanze, Ebenator Ekwe and Oboro Amurie. The name comes from the Isu people, a subgroup of the Igbo people. Amandugba and neighboring Umundugba were originally one town. Both communities have suffered from a horrid water supply from streams and brooks that often evaporate at an alarming speed. The mentioned bodies of water also serve as breeding grounds for malaria-borne mosquitoes and are sources of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, and parasites such as the guinea worm and the tape worm. Amandugba (or Amanduba) is a town in the Isu Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria. Nigeria is a federation of 36 states and 1 federal capital territory. Each of the 36 states is a semi-autonomous political unit that shares powers with the federal government as enumerated under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Imo State
Imo State ( ig, Ȯra Imo) is a state in the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north by Anambra State, Rivers State to the west and south, and Abia State to the east. Ekwe Community
{{Unreferenced, date=February 2021 History Historical origin of Ekwe is based on oral myth and legend of tradition of common ancestors passed from generation to generation. According to this oral tradition -"Nnamike Onuoma", the founder of the Ekwe community had two sons -Ekwe and Okwudor. Okwudor later separated from his brother and settled at the other side of the Njaba River and founded the Okwudor community. Ekwe stayed put in the area, which is now known as Ekwe. Ekwe and Okwudor conjointly worshipped the common ancestral god of their fore-fathers (Eziekwo) and commonly performed Ozo title ceremonies together until recently. An accident on the bridge crossing the Njaba River led to the death of Nze and Ozo title holders. This led to the separation in performance of the Ozo title, between Ekwe and Okwudor. Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe
Samuel "Sam" Onunaka Mbakwe (1929 – 5 January 2004) also known as Dee Sam was an Igbo politician and first democratic governor of Imo State, southern Nigeria from 1 October 1979 until 31 December 1983. The Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, located in Owerri, the state capital, was renamed after him. In 1981, Sam Mbakwe set up Imo State University. The campus was located in a territory that was ceded to Abia State in 1991 and was re-christened Abia State University. However, Imo State University acquired a new campus in Owerri and still exists.
