Ummy Mwalimu
Ummy Ally Mwalimu (born 5 September 1973) is a Tanzanian politician belonging to the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party. She is currently a Member of Parliament for Tanga Constituency and most recently served as the Minister of Health until August 2024, when she was succeeded by Jenista Mhagama. She has held various cabinet positions since 2010. She is a third-term Member of Parliament, firstly appointed to a seat reserved for women in the parliament of Tanzania in 2010. Background and education Mwalimu was born on September 5, 1973, in Tanga. She completed her schooling from the Korogwe Girls Secondary School in 1993. in 1998, she received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam. She received her Master of Laws degree from the University of Pretoria in 2001. Between 2000 and 2010, she worked in various governmental and NGO agencies in legal, research and governance roles. Tanga (''Jiji la Tanga'', in Swahili language, Swahili) is a historic city and the capital of Tanga Region. The city is located in the northern port city of Tanzania to the west of the Indian Ocean on Tanga Bay. Korogwe Girls Secondary School Alumni
Korogwe is a town in Tanzania, with a population of 62,032 in 2022. It is the main centre of Korogwe District, which is within the Tanga Region. Overview The town is the seat of the Anglican Diocese of Tanga and has a cathedral church dedicated to St. Michael and All Angels. It also has a teacher training college and a number of secondary schools. The district is drained by tributaries of the Pangani River. Health care The Magunga district hospital is the home of the NIMR Korogwe Research Laboratory. The building was designed by the Danish architect Jakob Knudsen (see also picture below). The Suluhu Cabinet was officially formed in Tanzania on 31 March 2021. Following the death of former president John Magufuli, Samia Suluhu Hassan the Vice President in the previous cabinet was sworn in as the new president. Within two weeks of her assignment, she appointed a new vice president and reshuffled the previous cabinet.
