''Ultraviolet'' is the eighth studio album by Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall, released on 5 October 2018 through Insomniac. As stated in interviews, the album is the second part of a trilogy, the first part being their prior album. The album deals with the unseen world, the ultraviolet spectrum of light, which can, at times, be harmful. It's all that which we are not aware of, but which still affects us and influences us in our daily lives. How we perceive things and how we make choices and act based on those perceptions. Reception Reviews from critics have been relatively positive. Though a bit of a departure from their rock sound and containing more pop elements, the album does still contain rock and also some prog elements that are comparable to the Von Hertzen Brothers, and the band was praised as such by critics. Poets of the Fall (POTF) is a Finnish rock band from Helsinki. The group consists of Marko Saaresto (lead vocals), Olli Tukiainen (lead guitar), Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen (keyboards, production), Jani Snellman (bass), Jaska Mäkinen (rhythm guitar), and Jari Salminen (drums, percussion). As stated in interviews, the album serves as a closing part of a trilogy, with the first two parts being '' Clearview'' (2016) and ''Ultraviolet Ultraviolet radiation, also known as simply UV, is electromagnetic radiation of wavelengths of 10–400 nanometers, shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays. Von Hertzen Brothers is a Finnish rock group formed in 2000, by three brothers. Their music is a mix of classic rock and progressive elements, folk, punk and contemporary rock. Each of the brothers have a notable history in the Finnish rock scene, starting from the early 1990s. Guitarist-singer Kie von Hertzen has played in Don Huonot [fi] (1992–2003). Singer-guitarist Mikko von Hertzen is an ex-member of Egotrippi [fi] (1994–1998) and Lemonator (1995–1998). Vocalist-bass guitarist Jonne von Hertzen won the National Rock Contest in 1998 with his band Cosmos Tango and later joined to play the bass in Jonna Tervomaa's band (1999–2005). Marko Saaresto
Marko Tapio Saaresto (born 5 December 1970) is a Finnish musician. He is the lead vocalist, primary songwriter and one of the founding members of the alternative rock band Poets of the Fall. Early life Saaresto was born in Helsinki. He was actively involved in music from a very young age and wrote several of his songs as a teenager. "Change", from the band's fourth number-one album ''Twilight Theater'', was written by Saaresto in 1990. "Maybe Tomorrow is a Better Day" from '' Carnival of Rust'' is even older, dating back to 1988. Saaresto took up a course in graphic design and worked as a graphic designer until he was in his early thirties. Saaresto has a bass-baritone vocal range. Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen (born 16 November 1973) is a Finnish musician, songwriter, producer, and the keyboardist of the Dance Nation band/rock band Poets of the Fall. Kaarlonen first became known in the underground with his Amiga MOD music in the early 1990s. His first commercial album was released as Dance Nation's album ''Dawn'' in 1994. After that he worked as producer for pop group Aikakone. Kaarlonen also worked for the software company Futuremark as a Senior Web Developer and Audio Designer.
