Ultraroyalists
During the Ominous Decade (1823–1833) of Reign of Ferdinand VII of Spain, Ferdinand VII of Spain's reign, the ultraroyalists (Spanish: ''ultrarrealistas''), also known as apostolics (''apostólicos''), ultra-absolutists (''ultraabsolutistas''), or simply ultras (''ultras''), were staunch advocates of uncompromising, extremist, or "pure" Absolutism (European history), absolutism. They stood in opposition to the "reformist" absolutists, who favored moderating absolutism in response to pressures from the Quadruple Alliance (1815), Quadruple Alliance and Bourbon Restoration in France, Restoration France. The latter's Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis, intervention in Spain in October 1823 had ended the constitutional regime of the Trienio Liberal, Liberal Triennium, established following the successful ''pronunciamiento'' of Riego in January 1820. War Of The Aggrieved
The War of the Aggrieved (in Catalan language, Catalan: ''Guerra dels Malcontents,'' in Spanish language, Spanish: ''Guerra de los Agraviados'') was an "Ultraroyalists, ultra-Absolutist" uprising that took place between March and October 1827 in Catalonia and, to a smaller extent, in Valencia, Aragon, the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country and Andalusia. The ''aggrieved'' (in Spanish: ''agraviados'') rose up against the absolutist "reformist" government that supposedly had "kidnapped" King Ferdinand VII of Spain, Ferdinand VII. The insurrectionists, mostly peasants and artisans, mobilized between 20,000 and 30,000 men in Catalonia and by mid-September they occupied most of the Principality of Catalonia, Principality.
